Icasa fights to keep name

"Lyndall Shope-Mafole, director-general of the Department of Communications, said the proposed name change was part of an overall education strategy by her department to get the public to know that the "e" in various names such as "e-government" meant electronic."

What a load of rubbish....

This is typical, the government is more concerned with renaming icasa than supporting it. :mad:

Icasa to be renamed to e-DoNothing?

With the current hiatus over Telkom's naked greed culminating in the November 1 broadband pricing fiasco and Icasa's insistence that SAIX cannot be regulated, I think that Icasa should rather be shut down so that we can save some taxpayers money or alternatively a commission with teeth be appointed with Government funding to regulate all telecommunication activities. The incumbents of this commission should be users and not political appointees. I propose that rpm chair this commission with debbie2 as vice chair and the Hellkom team as complaint investigators.

I think it is immoral for Government to own shares in a company (Telkom) that screws consumers, taxpayers and the economy.:mad:

Hidden Agenda

The ANC's Pieterse delivered the last remark by saying: "This is all very well, but where does it leave the consumer?"
Still in the dark.

What is wrong with these people?
Are they trying to detract from the agenda?
That means ICASA will become ECA.

ECA = Economic Commission for Africa
ECA = Eastern Communication Association
ECA = European Crystallographic Association
Etc Etc....

Are there not more important things to be done like protecting the consumer from exploitation than changing names.
Sometimes these people really boggle my mind.

Anything to detract them from doing any actual work. Frankly if they did a decent job it wouldnt matter what their name is.

Agreed.

So, we propose a new commission, chaired by rpm, co-chaired by debbie2, investigations by Hellkom, and call it eRegulate? ;)

Part of the department's mandate is to take this country out of the industrial age and put it into the information age.

We were in the information age 10 years ago, the department has put us in the Stone Age again.

Perhaps they should rename icasa it irRegular or iMazing (how they achieve so little) :)

All we need is Zuma as president and we'll have a full house of idiots.

Does Government get sponsored for changing names or what?

It's a stamp Gov puts next to a name they don't like: "Eish! To Change"

ROFLOL! Great thinking MaD! Myself, was still thinking of a good meaning, but yours is much better than what I had in mind! :D
