Web Africa and Dotco have filed a complaint against Telkom SA Ltd in terms of section 53 of the Telecommunications Act with ICASA. The complaint alleges that Telkom's proposed billing adjustments for ADSL from 1 November unfairly prejudice self-authenticating ISPs and unfairly benefit SAIX authenticated ISPs such as TelkomInternet through the imposition of hard capping, price discrimination and liability for bandwidth overruns.

The matter is being dealt with by a senior manager of the complaints handling unit at ICASA who advised today that ICASA has requested Telkom's response to the complaint. In terms of section 53 of the Telecommunications Act, ICASA may direct the holder of a telecommunications licence to refrain from taking any action that is likely to have the effect of unfairly prejudicing a particular group of persons. Web Africa is currently awaiting the resolution of the complaint by ICASA.

Thank you Web Africa !!!!!!!!!. Now let's see who are the ISP which think about thier clients as well.

Good job Web Africa. I'm sure you know we're all behind you. Or should I say, next to you.

I just hope this doesn't take over 2 years like our ICASA complaint.

Good luck!

...and the other ISP`s are silent...

All ISP`s should band together with this one, seriously, you have a chance here to get together and make a change. Not only will your public reputation go up, but you could make a difference.

That aside, if Web Africa needs help from antitrust his welcome to our full resources for this.

Thanks guys, there was another ISP as well that filed. I wasn't able to get confirmation from them if they wanted to be included. But will update if I hear back from them.

So I take it we have to wait for your post 1 November prices until your complaint has been resolved??

We expect it to be before then. Should be before the 25th October. But yes ICASA are under no legal obligations to resolve it before then.

Well done WA,
Nice to see an Isp standing up for their customers.

Well done waguys.;)

Now if only my current ISP would bother doing something ... I might not consider jumping ship at the end of the month.
