ICASA to address anti-competitiveness

I wish they would concentrate on one thing and get it right instead of making arb announcements and then never delivering. Concentrate on interconnect rates for the next 12 months and get them low and then move onto something else.

well the first body they can take on for anti-competitive behaviour is ICASA...hmm wait, that won't work.
 
Okay, so limiting anti competitive behavior in some instances can be good,
but is it not also reason for having such high prices?
Say for example other ISP`s blaming certain ISP`s for being to cheap?
and then nailing the consumer cause the first have to many overheads etc...

Always wondered if this does not end up driving monopolies in SA,
I mean compare the difference seacom has had in SA vs. kenya
 
1. The public must be <b>consulted</b> in the process of determining new regulation
2. An outline of the aspects to be <b>considered</b> before passing new regulation must be made available
3. ICASA must indicate which information it might require when conducting <b>investigations</b> into the competitive equality of a market sector

Note the highlighted words, this is all BS.

- We will also force ourselves to pre warn you regarding the exact nature of the information that we shall require from you, this will be called: Competitive equity sector information request definition.

We trust that you find our compliance with your needs to make excessive profit acceptable as per usual.

P.S. Be warned that "third force" agents are at play which may lead to our ineptness at doing anything useful being exposed. These "third force" agents will probably simply enact existing legislation that completely destroys your ability to hide facts from the public. Without our protection, this "third force" will surely cause a personal loss of profit to your already substantially padded pockets. I question ICASAs ability to address an envelope let alone take on that market.
 
This may be good news for consumers who have encouraged the regulator to mobilise against anti-competitive business practices in the local telecoms market.

ICASA's track record for 'clamping down' on anti-competitive business practices ..

The watchdog has awakened from its sleep at its masters feet next to the fireplace only long enough for a long yawn and to have a disinterested look around. When it spots the intruder it raises one eyebrow slightly while trying to force a bark that sounds promising but quickly deteriorates into another, even longer, yawn. Having exhausted all its energy it lowers its head onto its paws before falling asleep again.

The consumer is safe.
