iCloud storage space so expensive.

What about say 4x iPhones, 3 x iPads and and 2 x Macs?

Where does it come off the rails or get annoying?
No idea - I only have one of each.

My wife and kids find the free 1TB from Microsoft and the 18gb from Google and whatever apple gives them sufficient for their backup needs.

iCloud+ Storage Prices Increased in 10 Countries This Year

Over the past several months, Apple has raised its prices for some or all iCloud+ storage plans in 10 countries, including Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Turkey, Pakistan, Nigeria, Egypt, Tanzania, and the Philippines. The updated prices for each of these countries are listed in a support document on Apple's website.

All these greedy swine play the same game, 50GB entry level package that barely covers two mobile devices and then the next tier up is almost 4 times more expensive with as much more data. But most people will rarely go over 100gb but they still have to pay for double that amount of data just because the cnts won't offer smaller packages, despite it being a digital product so it won't cost them anything to have smaller sizes. And due to that fact the cost per utilised GB actually increases with the larger packages because most of the extra data you are forced to pay for is never used.

Seemingly nobody has figured out the 5GB is effectively a demo so you can experience how it all works.

It was never a free tier offering.

I only keep cat photos and sync stuff like contacts, notes etc. It's actually enough.
