The last time they fasttracked something it took 4 years and we still don't see any benefit. If I held my breath in anticipation it would be so long that I could probably lay the EASSY pipe myself.

4th Quarter of 2006 – Construction commencing
2nd Quarter of 2008 – Final commissioning of
the network for commercial use.

Mbeki has delayed the construction phase by 2 years and it's currently set for 1 Oct 2008.

According to the above schedule the cable wil take 1 and a half years after commencing construction to be ready for use meaning it will only be ready in 2010! This means that Telkom can keep charging us ridiculous bandwidth prices while ICASA and gov will keep on telling us competition is coming as a reason why Telkom doesn't need to be regulated.

How and when did Sudan get a decent enough link for EASSY to want to connect to, given that the following is hard to dispute
