Ideal WFH Mac setup

Horizontal setup - monitor and laptop side by side and a vertical setup (very little movement of the head between the monitors) - does that make sense?

Sorry I understood it as wanting to use the MacBook vertically.

Also I don’t need to move my head using my monitor like a normal person.

Besides a little motion is good for you.

Graphic design also just doesn’t work vertically.

I've tried optimizing (with my limited technical knowledge) using CleanmyMac every so often, I don't think it does anything apart from deleting old design cache files. My activity monitor looks like this, most of the time (after restarting on Tuesday, have not done much work since)

I think the MBP suffers from what most good looking i9's suffer from - too much CPU for too little heat dissipation. The fan intakes may also have become dusty, worsening it.
Look for a youtube video on how to open it up and clean it thoroughly.

I haven't, no. Do you think it's more strenuous than a trackpad? It's been years since I tried a mouse of any kind, so I don't have a clue.
A friend with arm mobility problems (lower arm) switched to a Logitech trackball since it means not having to move the arm much. This seems to have been an improvement. It is not as good at precise pointing for detailed work and so it may be necessary to switch back to the trackpad for this type of thing.

It suffers from being Intel.

No amount of cleaning will make it better.

Thanks everyone - I think I'll be going the route of Mac Mini M2 (don't know about M1's around) and a decent 4K 32ish" monitor and trying to source. I would love a curved one, but may need to settle for normal.

Any recommendations and what to look out for - budget (as low as possible, obviously) but 15K max.

Mac mini is awesome! No 16GBs seemingly readily available though, unless going M2 Pro at over R27k.

You could consider the Samsung 42" QN90B which is currently on special. Some have mentioned text is not amazing though, due to pixel layout? https://mybroadband.co.za/forum/thr...en-thine-wallet.960633/page-522#post-30730545 @_kabal_

Other than that, I would recommend a Dell monitor. 27" 1440p is also a great resolution. The S2721DG gaming one is decent, and you can nearly get two for R15k. https://www.dell.com/za/p/dell-s2721dgf-monitor/pd

I am looking at the M2 Pro - I'll be selling/trading the i9 so that should soften the blow. I think I'll need to get a proper 4K or an ultra wide monitor with decent pixels, as it will be my only display. I believe the gaming monitors are not ideal for my work and that I need higher response time and higher refresh rate - or is it the other way round?

Is there a flagship shop or something where I can go and check some of these out? I have something like this in mind:
LG LGE34WN650 34 HDR WFHD 75hz IPS Monitor available to buy online at @TAKEALOT We offer fast, reliable delivery to your door.

You don't need high refresh rates or response times. You need color accuracy.
