Identical car, VERY different performance?!?!?

firstly, i like to have power there when i want it. It's not to say that i just permanently red line the car where ever i go!

secondly, i am top management so i couldn't give 2 schits what they think tbh

Not really... It's not 2nd hand. It's also a new bakkie. It's just that it was someone else's new bakkie 3 weeks ago. Mine arrived last week and then i got told to swap, so it feels 2nd hand is what i was implying...
 
Cars are only identical when they've been dyno'd to confirm this.

Every single car is different out of the factory, no two are exactly the same. Then there is the way the car was run in that could make all the difference in the world to how the car performs later in it's life.

Then there's also a possibility that someone could have put leaded petrol in the thing and basically decat it in the process of doing so which would give it a bit more go and make it sound a lot more sporty at that.

On the flip side the lower mileage vehicle might be the "normal" car and the other one might have a problem. Fuel economy should tell you quite a story here and it could be something like a hole in the exhaust manifold or even a break in the exhaust system (although normally that would increase the noise not decrease it) or some other seal that has gone somewhere along the line.

Could be something as simple as the air filter being clogged or the routing to the air filter having disconnected.

How does the fuel economy compare between the two cars? Is it significantly higher on the higher mileage vehicle?

Nothing goes offroad like a company bakkie.
 
Those Chev Utility bakkies are garbage! And so is Chev for after sales service. My friend bought a new one, and it would surge and vibrate under load, going up a hill. He took it back and forth to the dealer and back to the factory, and after months, nothing was done. They said that is how it is. So he sold it back to the dealer. So I am not surprised that there is a massive variation between two supposedly identical Chev Utilities.

Hahaha, that would be the day! The company is still small and if im honest i dont earn near what i should! I've been here since right in the begining though and want to see all my hard work pay off!

Hahaha, i must say, i miss my Ford Focus very much but am definitely enjoying having a bakkie!

Thanks for your input, it is much appreciated!

I have since driven out that full tank of petrol and put new petrol in over the weekend and the bakkie is definitely pulling a LOT better! Also getting better millage off this tank. So i assume it was more than likely dirty fuel that was in the car. I've had something similar happen before with an older car of mine.

I did however clean the Air Filter out as well just to be sure. The engine sounds alot better and smoother and as i say, the power is there again so i am VERY happy with my bakkie now and really enjoying it!

TBH, i havent had this problem at all. I find the motor to be quite torquey and the bakkie gets up hills with NO problem. I can go up a hill at 80km/h in 5th and not have to gear down at all. I also moved about 250kgs of sand and rubble this wkend and didnt have any problems with the load or power or shaking...

Was your mate's bakkie a brand new one or 2nd hand?
