Anyone have any ideas on this one?

My browser of choice is Firefox which I use for most browsing. I am however forced to use IE6 for various work related activities because the office systems only support IE6.

I find that when I load IE the whole desktop hangs for about 30 seconds every time I load it while it opens the corporate homepage.

If I open IE and immediately hit the stop button I can type any url but as soon as I click go the whole desktop hangs for 30 seconds. Also if I click the arrow in the address bar it takes about 30 seconds to show the drop down list of previous sites the first time and after that is fine.

I have nothing in the proxy settings so can't figure out what it is doing to cause the desktop freeze.

IE version 6.0.2. Windoze XP 2002 SP2 all updates loaded.

Any help much appreciated!

Actually IE 7 does the same thing... except they fixed it now so that you can't hit the stop button... you just have to wait

even if you manage to type something in the address bar while it is loading, it will just revert back to it's home page.

It's not a bug... it's a feature of Windows! ;)

lol.. yes... unfortunately... mine is not as bad as yours... but then I don't use IE... so my cache is not very full and I have no toolbars or customisations... it takes about 5 seconds for mine to load... but it has on occasion (when it feels like it) taken much longer.

Try un-installing any toolbars you have loaded... and empty your cache...

see if that speeds things up

Thanks. emptied cache and is 'seems' better. Stoopid windoze!
