IE9

haha... so we sat with IE 6 for ages... now we have had 7, 8 and 9 in quick succession. Trying to play catch up, MS???

the register did an article on ie9 in november last year.
they weren't overly excited about the lack of proactive collaboration from microsoft in the area of standards compliance.
trying to get better with acid isn't everything.

That strategy would appear to rule out support for graphics technologies not invented by Microsoft yet part of the W3C's HTML 5: Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) - supported in Firefox, Chrome, and Opera - and Canvas that's already used in Firefox, Opera, WebKit and Safari.

It's an approach that will continue to leave developers struggling to support multiple browser architectures and invariably defaulting to Microsoft first and everyone else second based on market share, while leaving standards advocates and browser rivals as frustrated and angry as ever.

no canvas or svg? that's the point of html 5.

I still find that IE8 crashes all the time, on all of my computers, running XP or W7 !

Is IE9 going to be more stable ? Otherwise, don't bother !

Ja, no... I just think it is funny that they left us with IE6 for so long. In fact there are still millions of people using it.
Blame windows XP.
I make a point of it to upgrade at least IE to version 8 when I visit a client even if its not related to the problem that I went there to fix.

Internet Explorer 9

One thing that is known is that Internet Explorer 9 won't work on Windows XP. Users will have to have Windows Vista or Windows 7

FAIL. This makes it the most expensive internet browser on the market. Why MUST people upgrade their OS to use IE9? With most users on Windows XP, its not a compelling enough reason to fork out cash for a new browser.

I for one already have Windows 7. I'll be sticking to FF.

font rendering of css3 embedded fonts is finally antialiased.
and it looks like they are making some efforts to support svg.
i'll clap to that.
now please implement canvas ;)

ight now IE8 is by far the slowest browser available but with its new script engine, known as 'Chakra', IE9 compiles JavaScript in the background on a separate core of the CPU. This gives it a significant speed boost.

mm. Someone at MS, deciding on names, might be a Naruto fan :P

For some of us in corporate environments and intranets, we are stuck with IE as everything has been developed around it. So hopefully the IE9 will be faster than 8. It just takes too long.....

Hooray, now I get to test html/css for FOUR different versions of IE.

I'm glad I'm not a developer, maybe that's why I don't earn that much. But I'm happy to be a nonsensical user :D
