It's seems like the IEB has completely stuffed up the Science physics paper...

Question 1, which was worth about 16-20 marks (8%-10%), had an error on the question, they forgot to add a simple value, making the question impossible to work out.

Being the first question, I lost all confidence in my ability because I looked at it, and I simply could not answer it, a first for me...

Later on in question one, we worked out the the values of the times on the graph, were wrong, which further confused us... Typical questions such as laws, were not asked, the paper was a complete wast of time in fact.

So now, I beg to ask, what happens to us now? What happens to my marks?

What I don't get is why look at the first question and then lose confidence? One of the first things they teach you about answering exams is that you should always answer what you know first. If you get stuck, move on and come back to it later.

Well, I started doing it, got stuck, moved on, then after completing the other questions, I tried to do it again...

As for the question, i'll upload it later and you can see for yourself :o

I think you should be more worried about getting any marks at all......

:D

The bulk of the syllabus of school physics is effectively just the basics of classical mechanics. I always found it odd that it's labeled as physics :/

Well, that paper was retarded. Numbers that were previously stated, simply didn't matter any more because when you had to work them out, you get different numbers.

As for Pit Bull, I said "we" and "us" because AFTER the exam, we(my friends and I) went over it, and came to such conclusions.

not everyone works like that.

I usually work out the amount of time a test takes, divide that by the marks and have the average time I should spend on per question. If I run out of time, I move on to the next question.

I have to work through an order... start at Question 1, end at the last question. :)

Search for the IEB Matric 2009 group on Facebook and find the group relates to people protesting against the paper. All the private schools in SA vs. the IEB. WHO. WILL. WIN? Find out soon!

people come on. exam technique is an important skill.

What I did is I said "assuming the velcoity at t=3 is 42" (any number), I did this so I could complete the rest of the question

What ? Nothing about quantum super position ? What the hell they teaching you kids these days ?

The Independent Examinations Board on Monday said an error in a physics matric exam last week was caused by a technical glitch.
Matrics were unable to answer question one of the paper because there was a value missing on the graph.
Officials have found the error was caused by a problem with the alignment of computers and the terminals used to print the exam papers.

What absolute ***. You set the paper as the examiner. You then give it to fellow teachers on ask them to complete it. (of couse they should get full marks). The reason they need to actually do it is because there is a chance that certain questions could be interpreted differently so you actually need to mark the paper.

The oke then comes to you and says.. hey there is an error here or maybe you should express this different. Its obvious the teacher DID NOT RELOOK AT THE PAPER. A public hanging is in order
