BIS not receiving emails

My Blackberry Internet Service has been de-activated on 29 September 2009 and was meant to be re-activated 1 October 2009 due to handset upgrade/migration to Weekender Plus special on Blackbery 8520 handset.

Found BIS to be active this morning as I could now send emails and browse the Internet but not able to receive emails, even the ones sent to myself.

These sent emails are being received via my PC.

Have attempted to contact 155 and as you have confirmed they are not available to assist due to unforseen circumstances.

As per ocleroux's advice in another thread, he recommended I pull the battery, wait at least 1min and then replace battery and reboot, report results.

This was done and I could perform a Speed test, send the resulting email which arrived in my PC inbox, but not on the Blackberry on the same account.

Can also browse the Internet, just not receive emails, will PM my details.

Hi

Are you keeping a copy on the server/pc ?

If its read on the PC it wont be pushed to the BB

Yes, that is one of the first requirements of the BIS service as you get this advice when setting it up the first time, so we can cross this off the list.

BTW, thanks for your offer of assistance :D

As per my other post in the other thread what you need to do is set your PC to leave a copy of the mail on the server. This is not to be set on the Blackberry. Needs to be done on the PC mail client.

Hey, thanks for this!

We've noticed that data bundles due for expiry on 1 Oct '09 have not expired. I'll DM you an example.

I'm all for an extension of the rollover period, but don't want to jump to conclusions! ;)

I understand, the setting to keep copy on server has been set accordingly on my mail client, so that it is sorted :D

I have setup a test email account only accessible on the Blackberry and sent test mails to it and it does not get them, no error messages either.

I got feedback from the cancellations department saying that if I want to cancel my contract because of lack of service I need to contact the network department on 082111.
Is the general inquiry number the only number for the network department?

mmmm then I have run out of ideas...sorry Astound. :erm:

I had the same problem when I received the handset about 3 weeks ago, had to call 155 and they sorted it, said it was due to the migration/upgrade and they needed my BB Pin and had to wait 24 hours for activation then and it worked fine until it was de-activated on 29 September.

Of course, cannot get hold of 155 as per the "due to unforseen circumstances" story on the IVR.

Thanks for the advice anyway, I think this is one for 155 support, hope Vodacomdata can help :erm:

Hi

You have 5 email accounts linked to your BB so you should have 5 message envelopes on your BB , do you ?

Damn!!!! Why did I not think of that! A bit off topic @ VD...my sister used to be on BES but work mails was driving her straight into the luny bin so I put her back on BIS...ever since she has been unable to connect via her BB Browzer but everything else works fine. Would deleting her service books resolve this? How do you redownload the correct ones?

Kudos to you Vodacomdata ... ^ that was the actual issue, the service books.

What I found was duplication of the service books for the five email accounts.

The red exclaimation was not popping up for the new emails and they appeared to be read already, so I decided to start from fresh.

Went to the email configuration option and manually deleted the five accounts.

Then re-created them one by one by one and now have one each of CICAL and CMIME not doubles

Now it is working fine again, immediately get the new mail notification and red exclaimation again.

There may have been some conflict between the settings of the previous BIS which had been activated and the new activation, I guess.

Anyway, I can put this to bed now, I am receiving my emails again like before :D

Thanks muchly ocleroux and Vodacomdata ;)

And not throttling of anything ...

Prepaid bundle reset

I bought a 1GB bundle on 1 Sept. A balance enquiry 2 weeks ago said the bundle will expire 1 Nov but now it's all gone (about 500MB)!!
