who should I contact about ilegal software?

who should I contact about ilegal software?

It depends. If you want to bust a person, the police will only do something about it if the person is selling.
If it's a business, you can call the BSA (Business Software Alliance).

BSA is your best bet. But don't expect them to take any notice.

It depends on the size of the infraction or business. If it's a small business with two people they rarely do anything. Except maybe send a scary email. If it's some place like Absa or Pick 'n Pay then they will do a full-scale assault in the hope of getting money out of it.

lol dont worry ....lol Who says I am busting anyone???

I have tried in the past to contact both the BSA and the Films and Publications Board. Both attempts were fruitless though. The BSA ignored my communications and the Film and Publications Board showed up on my doorstep to "warn me about my illegal activities". I politely explained to them that I was the complainant and the shop up the road was the offender! Bunch of inept and useless monkeys if you ask me.

If I was you I would make one anonymous phone call and then leave it at that. If they take it further or not it is their business. But don't expect much to be done. The BSA is all big blustery talk and little action. The police and the FPB really could not be bothered... esp. with "small fry"

I work with tonnes on software and ensuring that my companies licences are up to date with our software and to be honest no one realy cares unless there is money to be made in the "busting" of the offender.
you best bet would be to report the infringment to the software developer and leave the ball in their court, if they want to do sonething about it they will.

You can get any programme, crack or serial number for a trial programme for free on the net. Some countries have no laws on internet such as (dot ws and dot am) But beware, when you are finished downloading, your programme will work. The next time you start your computer it will not see your HD. (No HD found) You will have to reinstall windows to factory state.
I was stupid twice.
