They're concentrating heavily on the Southern Suburbs for now.

Seen them once on the M5 as I was driving home from work one night.
They just pull off to the side of the road under one of the crossover bridges and wait for offenders.

Where are the armed criminals when you need them. This is the sort of thing that calls for a good old fashioned drive-by.

The best are mobile, hidden cameras and very hi traffic fines.

Doesn't achieve anything, except income, which is the primary goal of speed trapping.

Have you got a idea how many motor vehicle accidents happened in your area over the last 24H?

We are supposed to have regulations regarding where and how speed enforcement is conducted in Cape Town. These were introduced to promote it as something carried out for improvement of safety (even if the evidence indicates that speed is not the problem), rather than the very obvious fact that it was being used to generate income (and this still is the only reason its done around small towns). But doubtless those regulations will be ignored, so it is up to individuals to report what they believe to be irregular trapping. Otherwise the traffic mafia will just continue to operate their extortion racket with impunity.

There are much bigger problems on South Africa's roads, but it is easy to do speed trapping rather than tackling the difficult problems.

Anarchy is the way to go in Africa. Only total anarchy is true freedom. If I want laws I reside in the rainy Europe But then again, lawlessness has its draw back As my grany says: choices, choices and more choices - welcome to the 21st century. Can't wait to get my drivers licence
