Last night from 22:00 till 02:30 and from 4:00 till 08:30 (normally they give you the last minutes off of a session ... but not not last night).

9 hours in total ... with only 1:30 hour power-on break (with power-on) ... in total.

This afternoon after getting home from work and opening my freezer ... a couple of hundred rand of frozen meat ... even after frozen again ... smelled a little ... off ...

Imagine what I was thinking at that stage.

When last did you previously open your freezer? We have had multiday outages and the meat still over 90% frozen the second day (I only checked after power came back). It's usually people who constantly open the freezer letting the cold air out and warm air in, and perished door seals that have a problem with the food defrosting quickly.

My cheese does not last long in the fridge now so I had to throw cheese away long before it could be consumed.

Hopefully SA does not spawn a new type of bacteria, the ones that adapt to the constant thawing. A bit of autumn, summer and winter for them in the fridge.

One should get into the habit of putting containers of water in the freezer as the month progresses as you consume the meat and other freezer stuff. The more thermal mass you have in your freezer the longer stuff takes to defrost

Unfortunately my pessimism tells me we are going to experience a new level for the first time

How do you make money if you can only work for 4hrs

If these ****ers didn't have a brain cell that is suffering from loneliness , they would be able to realise they are speeding up the vortex that is dragging the whole country down

For **** sake

Maybe that's why mine generally stays frozen long. And I have some of those blue iceblocks for the coolerbox always in there too.

If you don't open it, it should keep your food frozen and safe for up to 24 hours. How old is this freezer ?

Yes, I have a couple of 2l bottles of water frozen in the deep freeze, but I also don't stock up for more than a few days.
