IM for mobile phones

I am currently putting together a solution that uses SMS technology to send alarm notifications to end users. This is expensive!!

Is there a good robust IM client that I can use instead? It must be able to work on all mobile phones!

End users can select how they would like to receive the alarm notification.

Its Called MXiT ...

or you can either use a WASP or setup your own gateway and use a telemetric contract (22c per MT) or make use of an international gateway (only catch is networks can and will cut you off).
