Screw it* I'm going back to ADSL, I'm just too tired with the unreliability of UMTS.

What number can I call to get them to reactivate my line?

*(please don't give me an infraction!)

10210. Good luck, and don't stress about infractions... 'round these parts you get perma-banned straight up. ;)

:p

OK, seems they've recycled my number so I'll get a new one. Took them up on the Telkom Simple 2 meg deal. Doesn't sound too bad and its month-to-month

free line installation
free ADSL installation
free router
free 3g modem (preloaded with 500megs of data)
10 gigs of monthly ADSL data (which will be a backup since I'm going to look for an uncapped deal)
free land line calls between 1900 and 0700 and over weekends (this will be great for the kids to talk to their grandparents)

So now to wait for the installation...

You left out the most important point! How much and when can you get Afrihost to handle your line.

.

Installation shouldn't take too long as you previously had a line, providing there are ports available at the exchange.

Why on earth would I do that. I used to be an Afrihost, Axxess and TI uncapped user.

TI was the best by a very, very long way - have a look at the Uncapped TI thread for an indication. No throttling, no shaping :)

edit: ok I see you're referring to my line. Well my response to that is: Never let an ISP manage your line, its a pain to get it back!

Link? Never heard of them, forgive my ignorance

Not that its funny at all, but my DSLAM is in Delft and due to the socio economic conditions over there there's always plenty of ports available :)

On the flipside, I'll probably never see anything higher than 4meg while connected to said DSLAM because of ^

20GB is plenty for most people that don't feel like downloading the internet all day long

Not any more I don't think. I don't download much, if at all, and my lowest daily usage is around a gig. Of that gig an embarrassing amount is probably down to MyBB refreshes. :o We also stream a fair bit lately, which will see a busy day go to about 15 or so.

20 gig is on mobile is a fair deal for those who don't have access to dsl, or those who place less importance on the web, but you hardly need to be downloading the internet to outstrip it quite quickly.

Agreed it's not a lot, but for most people, not MyBB forumites/internet addicts :p, 20GB is plenty, I know of small companies that use less than that in a month purely cause they only allow internet access for banking and other related business activities and email.

Quite soon, there won't be a need for this ... so if you don't have problems now, I wouldn't move the line ...
