All inclusive it's R499 per month. If you go for the 1 meg line its R399
edit: the R499 is for the 2 meg option
20GB is plenty for most people that don't feel like downloading the internet all day long
20GB for R500 is horrendously expensive.
UMTS = 3G (sort of). But to answer your question, yes.Sorry to derail.
Is UMTS when you buy a router and load prepaid data? Then you carry the router around and log on wirelessly wherever you go?

Oh, but then I would not have received:Why didn't you just get the uncapped for R607 all inclusive?
OK, seems they've recycled my number so I'll get a new one. Took them up on the Telkom Simple 2 meg deal. Doesn't sound too bad and its month-to-month
free line installation
free ADSL installation
free router
free 3g modem (preloaded with 500megs of data)
10 gigs of monthly ADSL data (which will be a backup since I'm going to look for an uncapped deal)
free land line calls between 1900 and 0700 and over weekends (this will be great for the kids to talk to their grandparents)
So now to wait for the installation...
If you take the router and the 3G dongle, it becomes a 24month contract. Keep that in mind. They don't tell you that, it is a nice surprise afterwards.
I'd appreciate a source please. I've made sure a few times during the ordering process and they confirmed every time that its month to month. If you take the router and the 3G dongle, it becomes a 24month contract. Keep that in mind. They don't tell you that, it is a nice surprise afterwards.
A couple of years ago they ran a promotion where you also got a modem for free (together with free installation of line and ADSL) which I took. After a few months I told them I'm cancelling my line and they told me to keep the router in case I want to come back.^ that's what I'm thinkingTelkom give you a decent modem AND a 3g router on a month to month basis. I don't know hey...

That router is still lying at home in a cupboard somewhere![]()
OK, you can stop the clock now.
Total number of calendar days taken from first call to request installation up to ADSL line being up and running: 12.5 days
Total number of working days: 8.5 days
Impressive!
Oh and the router they gave me is a a D-Link DSL-2750U which isn't a bad router at all. also has a USB port so I'm still deciding if I'm going to use it for 3g failover or plug an external filled with media into it. Will pop into TDS later to get my 3g modem which is included in this bundle.
So to sum up, I'm fairly happy with the turnaround time and its a decent deal!![]()
*cough*, going to try and load the original firmware *cough*Got the same deal- afaik, that modem has been 'customised' by Telkom such that the USB hosting doesn't work. Usable only as a modem port.
Let us know if you find a workaround![]()
Oh, but then I would not have received:
a) free line installation
b) free ADSL installation
c) free D-Link ADSL/3G router
d) free 3g modem
Uncapped is on the cards within the next few days...

Thats what I was told at the TDS too. Free modem is only given if you sign on for 24 months.
I have tried Access, Afrihost, TI and Mweb, and remarkably Ti was by far the best. So I'll be goin with Telkom Internet (almost no shaping whatsoever)Which ISP are you going withm, for interests sake?
