Thats what I was told at the TDS too. Free modem is only given if you sign on for 24 months.

Guys in order to be tied to a contract, you need to sign documentation confirming same. This is not on contract. You get the devices free as part of the promotion. I just came from TDS to collect my modem and confirmed once again.

Same here. I also got the modem and installation free of charge when they installed by the SO's place. Everytime I call Telkom I confirm that it is indeed month-to-month.

I have tried Access, Afrihost, TI and Mweb, and remarkably Ti was by far the best. So I'll be goin with Telkom Internet (almost no shaping whatsoever)

Good choice, I'm with TI too and I haven't felt even a sniff of shaping. Although I haven't hit the Red Power User zone on TiTracker yet. I too have tried MWEB, Plugg(trial account), OW(trial account), Buzybuy(WA reseller) just not afrihost and axxess, TI by far has been the better performing account with no difference between during or after hours no difference.

Damn, where was this free modem deal when I signed up for ADSL LOL

But beware all calls at Telkom are recorded and if agree to a contract that call recording is legally binding ie. you dont to sign any
physical paperwork to be tied into a contract your verbally recorded agreement is all they need.
