Exactly my point, his mahs is screwed but his thoughts are sound. By the way I have let him know. I enjoy his blog, while not a negative bloke he speaks from the heart, clearly very passionate. If he changes it I'll let you know. Will be interested to see how he corrects it.
 
R54 billion / 5.5 mill registered tax payers..

Its just under R10k per registered tax payer

Thats a huge amount of money.. Could have done alot with that..

My argument below is flawed. I have been informed by someone that my maths is up to ****. I've calculated millions and billions wrong so indeed the R54 billion would equate to about R1000 per person. A far cry from what I worked out. I also used current day exchange rates when I should have used the exchange rates from back then. I'm not going to change the original post as this notice is my disclaimer.

In the interests of transparency and to show I am open to correction I will leave the post in tact, and instead leave this notice here. The actual point of the post was that that money will have been better spent on the people of South Africa and not on arms. Please accept my apologies for the cock up, my maths is generally pretty good but having worked with two different meanings of millions and billions over my life time I confused myself. I won't even go down the path of having to change my mindset from metric to imperial. It's a bitch!
