Couldn't read the whole thread so my advice has probably already been dished out, but here goes anyway.
Most women don't want an ******* that will phone them 22 times a day to make sure that they are doing what they said they would be doing. They also don't want a guy that does not even phone them once in a while just to say hi, even though you saw them a few hours ago.
The one is completely psycho-domineering, the other is disinterested.
Most women, although they want to have a say in the relationship and feel like equal partners, want to be told what is happening not asked. (Not all the time mind you, but here are some examples).
1) You know that your SO wants to go to see a certain movie, you:
a. Ask her: "Honey, do you want to go to the movies tonight"?
b. Tell her: "I am taking you to the movies tonight". (After making sure that she has no other plans of course).
2) You are both walking around shopping or something, you are both hungry. You:
a. Walk around indecisive confused between all the options, asking her what she wants to do and she responds with I dont know you decide.
b. You ask her if there is anything in particular that she feels like, she says you decide... You turn around and bloody well decide.
Its not about being a dick and overriding her decisions. It's about noticing when she is wanting you to make the decisions and just making them. Instead of constantly checking with her. There is a fine line between considering her feelings on every decision, and starting to make all the decisions ultimately hers for fear of seeming like 1920's chauvinist.
The key here though is how she reacts. If she is never happy with your decision, then she is a car guard, kick and move on. Most women will simply be happy with your decision because you took the initiative and made it. Even if she wanted mcD's and you chose Steers.
