I'm now an Afrihost Uncapped Bundle client and not much to say besides the 5 star experience:

Last night:
19:40 realise my Telkom Cap is about to see its arse and I've already used my free 1Gb Afrihost account
19:42 Go onto Afrihost website and read more on their Uncapped Bundle package
19:45 Start filling in online application form, think it was 4 easy steps.
19:54 Get email confirmation and invoice
19:55 DSL account credentials available on portal.
21:08 Get email confirmation ADSL account is now active with credentials.

This morning I get a courtesy SMS to say they are processing the Telkom line migration.

What really impressed me is the level of honesty with Afrihost. They are prepared to give me my ADSL account credentials immediately, even before my debit order went off.

Thanks Afrihost.

Thanks for this post, we really appreciate the positive feedback.

Welcome to the Afri-Family :)

hello there,

I have my ADSL like through Axxess, but uncapped ADSL from Afrihost.

Am thinking of moving to a bundled package with Afrihost. Will I be charged any admin fee to move my line from Axxess to Afrihost?

thanks!

Becuase we are separate ISP's in the eyes of Telkom, they won't allow us to move directly in between ISP's. You'll need to move the line back to Telkom first, and then sign up online to have it transferred to us. There are no costs involved.

Just some feedback on my new account. Since the 23rd I've done 32GB without issue. I must say that I moved to uncapped as I expected my usage to be about 15-20gigs a month but now I'm on uncapped its just so convenient. I've started to use Steam again (retired my copy 4yrs ago due to bandwidth), did two Win8 upgrades (but needed to use my 3G to do the purchase) and generally updates and data syncing.

Great to hear :) this month I went over to afrihost data, line is still with Telkom. But I plan to signup for the 2mbps bundle tomorrow probably. Afrihost ftw :P

If you guys think this was good, I actually signed up on the 27th, at 11:30 odd PM. I got the details via email and sent my ID off for account validation. Put the info into my router, woke up to an email at 3AM telling me that the account was validated, and checked the internet - all working 3-4 hours later on a Sunday morning. At least the sign up process works. I think migrating your adsl line takes longer though.

Best of luck. AH line speeds suck since moving to MTN. Don't waste your money!

Bleg, not what I wanted to hear Grimspoon! I was looking into ditching Mweb for Afrihost.

Unfortunately it looks like I will be moving over too Telkom uncapped rather.

My line speed is fine with afrihost. Just diablo 3 latency which is burning my ass, and that seems to be an mtnns routing issue with the new ip range.

Seriously, DON'T waste your money or time and save your self the blood pressure tablets. Since AH "EPIC" move to MTN I have had nothing but pathetic speeds. One night its "OK" the next night its beyond ridiculous. I am so sick of it.

I am cancelling my account, moving over to anyone but AH. Not even WA was this bad.

It took a week for my ADSL line to be migrated.

I've had no problems and another friend is also happy with AH uncapped.

I have had high latency issues with Mweb who I was with before, and Telkom who I used before them. Frankly slow internet is an unfortunate reality in this country. You can bounce around providers all you like, but none of them have the same level of service as overseas providers.
