Im so happy :)

definetly the gx2 7950 from nvidia for more better value for money i'll go for the radeon x1900xtx

first of all wait for a better thing is crap because you will always have a crappy pc in a week or 2... i cant buy from anyone anymore i already bought my stuff.

MAXTOR is bought and over...

I love what i have!!!! stop trying to correct what i've done
:D

No correction from me...

 N7.1

id10t, just ignore them, they are all jealous and wouldnt personally pass up the opportunity to have the same rig as you if they could:-)

LOL :D It is just my opinion that the x6800 might be a little overkill but if you can afford it then there comes a little bonus with it.

Unlocked multipliers which means around 3.5Ghz up from 2.93Ghz on stock cooling and stock voltage!!! (NOte not 100% sure but I remember reading this somewhere)

Congrats on a sweet system and I await the benches to make my x2 4400+ look like a damn toy :(

thanx and i'll try to get benchmarks still got stuff to fix

everything on my hd is so messed up.. too much of this so many doubles of that damn

out of all honesty, whenever you buy equipment, its always an issue about should i wait a little longer or not and just when you think timing is perfect and you buy the parts, something better comes out a day or two later - it will always be like that!.

With the pace of consumer electronics advances you have to cut your "future" losses and buy now if the cash exists. Else, as said, You never get there. Dollar is strenthening fast and also plays a role.

Man, I'm gonna be building a sweet PC for a guy, budget is around R16000. Cant wait to set it up. E6600, 2GB DDR2 667, 400GB Seagate, man, it will be sweet!

You lucky ID10T, ID1OT! Mine will come soon ?? Still have to soften the other half! make her feel sorry for me :D Are we twin brothers? re hard drive, same dissease and problem here! :D

Good PC man. WHatver works for you I guess is okay. Should provide top notch performance

Is there no program out there that uses hash keys/tables to remove duplicate files?

I think the ram is perfectly fine and dandy.
Please, spare the flamethrowers and consider my thoughts first.

the ideal memory speed for conroe to run at is ddr2-533, as the ram is then in a 1:1 ratio with the fsb. (yes, lower bandwidth, agreed).
As such, he can clock the fsb up to 400 (1600fsb effective) before the ram hits the ddr2-800 it is specced to run at. (if you think it is actually a 1:2 ratio then go google and come back later)

so, the ram running at 1:1 and everybody happy, but the lower bandwidth...hmmm...werner, u r on drugs. :-) Not so, I say, ol' mr conroe isnt so piccy about ram bandwidth. so, although you have less ram bandwidth, everything is happier at 1:1, and the ram no longer holds the cpu back from its maximum overclock, and the nb is happy too.

my real world testing has shown performace differences of around 1-2% ON CERTAIN BENCHMARKS ONLY going from ddr2-533 to ddr2-800/1000 ram on x6800. this isnt worth the extra cash you pay for the high end ram. no way.

so, strapped for cash, use ddr2-533..you are not missing out on anything at all with conroe. wanna overclock? use ddr2-667/800, set it at 533 speeds and off you go..the chances of you reaching 400fsb and maxing out your ram are slim if you are just a casual overclocker without a handy supply of LN2. do you have a deficiency in the trouser department? spend money on high end matched ddr2-1xxx modules.

hope this helps, and flame on:-)

edit: adding some links to back up my logic, as well as counter any arguments re: memory timings
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2006/07/18/core_2_duo_memory_timings/9.html
http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/core_2_memory_tuning/page16.asp
I have linked to the conclusions page for both articles, please dont nitpick specific sentences but read both articles and then make a judgement call based on performance increase vs price, as I think that is what most of us would use as our criteria. Conroe doesnt really scale too well with increased bandwidth...seems like the chip is nicely efficient already. Of course tighter timings and increased bandwidth are "faster", but I wouldnt call the difference noticeable at all...rather buy a speed grade higher cpu and go for cheaper ram, your machine will be faster overall by a larger margin.
budget sweet spot is e6600 and 533 ddr2. the x6800 is sweet if you can afford it (or got given one free)

Werner dude, the Core D Duo's has a 1066MHz FSB, so idealy you should be running in dual channel 667MHz mode for optimum results, and at 512MB, the difference between 553 and 667 is only about R10. But you are right, dont know how noticeable it all is...

1066fsb quad pumped=266mhz
ddr2-533=266mhz effective clock rate
hence 1:1 :-)

ddr2-667 would be great for a 1333fsb.

<edit> http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticle&number=4&artpage=1965&articID=472
snip "So it doesn’t matter much what memory speed/timings you buy, the value line will suit the Intel Core 2 system just fine, but do keep one thing in mind, as in our testing we found performance actually decreases a bit going from PC4200 (533) to PC5300 (667)!"

of course, if the price difference is low, then get what you can, and clock it to ddr2-533 (if you ask me) and be happy that you have overclocking headroom

does it make sense now? :-) that is pretty much exactly what my testinig confirmed....533 is great, 667 is a mismatch, 800 is also a mismatch, but the increased memory bandwidth compensates a bit so it balances out slightly to be about even with 533...weird huh...

 right

i dont know much about overclocking and am not aiming on doing so :D

but thanx for the info anyway :D

Werner not to diss your links but runing 1:1 was never the issue.
Buying 533 or 667 is like buyiing DDR 266 or DDR333 on DDR1 platforms it makes no sense.

obviously 1:1 is ideal as there are no wait states between reads writes etc...
However Buying DDR667 will make sure you'll never see more than 820MHz~ (if You're lucky)which is 410MHz FSB. Consider that OCZ along with Corsair, G.Skill , Team etc are making PC8000/8500 and even 8800 sets. These are used even when you're on air cooling. E6600 has 9x multi on 266MHz bus. running 400Mhzx9 will need DDR800 speeds for great performance, but it's well known that these chips will do better than 3.6GHz on supporting motherboads, some hitting 3.9GHz which will need 866MHz capable RAM.

Anyway, buying an X6800 and not overclocking is rather a waste. Actually X6800 is a waste oveclocking or not. On average E6600/6400 oc much better than X6800. X6800 is 100% more expensive than E6700 but only gives 10% better performance... Bleh

Considering two months from today Intel has Quad Core XE for same price as X6800 Don't think I'd buy X6800 even if I did have the money.
