I'm upgrading anytime between now and end next month. Which phone do you think I should get? I have no idea what I want. My budget would be a phone that would cost about R4k prepaid, give or take a few hundred. I like the slide phones and touch screens but I'm also open to candybar style phones. Camera isn't to important to me. I was sure I wanted to get a Nokia 5800 but I read from a few sources that the price has been jacked up to 429 euro and I'm not waiting that long. I would prefer a 3.5mm jack. I've looked at the N78 but it has pretty mixed reviews. I have a N70 at the moment and it feels a little bit underpowered.

Thanks in advance.

well don't think you'll get any of the new touch screen phones in the 4K range tbh... you will have to go for a mid range phone.

if you like nokia, maybe stay with them... the n78 would probably be ideal for what you want? or do you want a complete multimedia orientated phone ?

Well my budget is leaning towards 5k at the moment. I just want a phone that has a 3.5mm jack, nice for multimedia and can multi task. (reason I wanted a slide is for a big screen.

Ok, so I went to the store today and I have quite a few choices. Nokia N82, N78, 6220, 6210 and E66 were some of them. So I'm not looking at such cr@p phones. Now just to decide. If only I knew when the 5800 was coming out.

Sorry for all the questions but end or beginning Jan? I'm really considering waiting for this phone. Oh and my budget is just over 5K. I hope the 5800 isn't going to cost to much, Hopefully around 5K. Thanks so much for the help.

Relax. Their prices are always retarted with brand new phones.

u can get the N82, I also got a N70 for the passed two yrs now and N82 blows it away.
N82 complete with auto accelerometer, 3.5mm jack, excellent software, especially the MM app, very cool media organisation features. And u get a sweet camera with it. I couldnt wait so N82 suits me fine. I'm sure 5800 wont be too expensive if u can wait out for it :) Its got a massive screen and new Symbian 9.4. I'm sure its going to be a sweet device.

For me camera is important, so N82 was a no brainer...to some degree, once I got my head in the right place :)

I'd strongly advise against getting a year old phone such as N82 now, if you are going to have to use it for the next two years. Wait for the 5800 or if you have to get something now go for one of the newer FP2 phones.

Otherwise, consider an E series phone, with a 2.5mm -> 3.5mm adapter.

how much is the N96?...that got good reviews and it has a stereo jack and has good multimedia

N96 is very expensive.

I'm willing to wait until January for the 5800 but I'm not sure I could get it by then and I hope it's not R9500 anymore either.

I got a N78 a few weeks ago and am pretty happy with it so far. Screen looks great, battery life is good so far, and it has a pretty decent set of features. The N82 is a better phone all in all though, in hindsight...

haha ya the N70's were shockers...i had a N73 and then went onto an N81.

I like the N82's features but its not a nice looking phone, and before everyone says it's not a fashion statement I know that but I'm going to be looking at it for 2 years so I don't want a eye-sore
