Good Day

Perhaps someone can help me out. Where can one get RAM for an iMac 20inch (mid2007)? Are there places around Sunninghill, Sandton and Johannesburg areas that one can buy and hopefully have it fitted there as well? It's currently running on 3gb but I want to increase this to atleast 8gb if not more.
Any recommendations?

Hi, You generally don't need specific RAM. Just go to Incredible connection / Matrix Warehouse etc.
With DDR2 (see link below) any decent brand will do. I've never had issues with using generic "PC" RAM in any mac I've owned.
Lookup the RAM type on google (just use the model number) or go to :

http://www.everymac.com/systems/app...mac-intel-aluminum-how-to-upgrade-memory.html

According to this it supports a maximum of 6 GB of DDR2.

Just look up the exact RAM it uses and buy that, you can always go to a iStore or Digicape, but they will certainly overcharge you. There isn't something like Apple RAM or Apple hard drives or Apple CPU's no matter what they tell you. For example if you carefully look, you'll find out that some Mac's use Samsung RAM and Samsung hard drives despite the ever on going legal battle between Apple and Samsung, iPhones even have Samsung screen panels, or they used Samsung panels in the iPhone for a very long time anyway.

Apologies for very late feedback. Found a place to upgrade it and yes the maximum is 4GB unfortunately. I also had a tower that has 6GB ram abd is a quad core also fixed up and I hear that it is also as fast as the iMac as well. May move to the mac world soon too. I'm liking Mac products by and by.
