Howsit guys,

I own a late 2011iMac (21.5"). It has the standard WD 500GB hard drive in it, but I find performance a bit 2011 when compared to some of the newer machines. Not looking to break the bank and grab a new iMac, so I want to bump the hard drive to an SSD. Found a nice kit on Macsales.com but watching the installation guide it looks quite tricky. Have bought from the a few times and haven't had issues, but removing the LCD screen makes me nervous.

Anyone have one of these and done the upgrade themselves?

Also, anyone know a reliable Mac repair store that would install without charging me a fortune?

Where are you situated? I know of a place in Joburg. Melville to be exact. They may not charge an arm and a leg. Thats where I had taken an iMac that we wanted to upgrade the ram for awhile back. Perhaps they can help.

Hey tx for the response. I am in Jhb, Melville isn't too far. Whats the name of the place?

I replaced the memory (upgraded) in my iMac by removing the screen.. however I bought a kit that included new double sided strips to re-secure the screen after I was done

Guides said to use a heat gun, which I tried and was to scared I was going to melt the computer... I ended up just prying off the screen with the tools supplied (guitar pick)
