Image editing apps for iPad

My top three at the moment are iPhoto, Filterstorm Pro (the non pro version looks pretty good too), and snapseed.

Edit. Filterstorm Pro has a definite edge over iPhoto as it handles RAW files.

Photoshop touch should now also be on the platform.

It is but you're limited to 1600x1600 px images, or rather you were since that might have changed. Not sure how good RAW support is.

Probably still the case.

Anyway found Sketchbook's link that I use on mine seeing that its free and does most of what I need for image creation. http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/sketchbook-express/id410871280?mt=8 and for kids Drawing pad is a great start http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/drawing-pad/id358207332?mt=8

But yeah if you wanna go pro then Filterstorm is about the best you going to get for editing photo's.

Isn't editing on the PC much more powerful with more features?

I've always thought the editing on the iPad was if you've got no access and need to send it through to someone urgently?

Sure but how many people need all the features apps like photoshop 5.5 offers? I sure dont. On the plus side the touch interface can be very intuitive.

It doesn't need to be - if memory serves I edited this on the couch a few days after getting filterstorm pro - if I had a 3G ipad at the time I could have shot, edited, and uploaded it from trackside.

Nice image.

Yeah, I think 90% of the people that edit pics on a tablet does it only for Facebook, Instagram, twitter and G+ sharing. I would even go so far as to say that more than half the features of Filterstorm almost never get used by people that own it.

Off topic:

Bwana you might know, is there a similar app for iPad as DSLR controller for Android?

Reason I ask is one of my friends recently bought a Canon 550D and is in the market for a tablet. She would be more of an iPad person but saw what mine was capable of. I honestly think she would be better off getting an iPad so was looking for a replacement applications to help her make a more informed decision.

You're absolutely right on both accounts. Online image sharing must be hammering the printing industry - although I always see someone wanting to print an image or two when I go to the camera shop to get my images printed so I could be wrong.

Not that I know of and TBH I have no idea why not. There is a kickstarter project called TriggerHappy that has already received 5x more in pledges than they requested so there definitely is a demand.

Personally I hardly ever shoot on a tripod but there have been rare occasions when the functionality would have been handy - so far on those occasions I've been triggering my camera with my old iphone via a laptop. The most important thing for me is the ability to quickly get my images from the camera to the ipad and for that the eye-fi card has been a life saver.
