Image resolution

Need to submit a 300dpi image. Taken picture at 3072 X 2304 (7mp). How do these relate and how do I increase the original dpi (230dpi) to 300dpi?

Is it even possible?

talking non-technically, dpi is meta data sitting in the image file. You can set the dpi using decent imaging applications.

Irfanview does the job nicely.
