Hi guys

I am having problems with my emails.
I use a POP account on Outlook for my Work emails, I have an IMAP account on my mobile. The only problem is that I cant download previously downloaded email (on Mobile). If I spend some time on the fiel and access and send emails (Newly received only) when I access them from my laptop next time when I sync my phone (access via phone), all the saved emails disappear.

I called our ISP to try to resolve this but he says I need to use an IMAP account on Outlook (instead of POP). We did however try this but still, I could not download all my old emails (dating back in January) - this is is not working.

He said I should backup my Outlook then export them to the newly created IMAP account. NO NO No NO! Isn't there an easy solution?

Thanks guys

POP downloads and deletes your emails from the server.
IMAP keeps your email on the server because you are directly connected to the server.
If you are using POP after you have downloaded your email on your laptop it will come off the server and get stored on your laptop. Think of it as a post box, using IMAP you are opening your post box and having a look at the mail but not taking it away. You can access your post box in many ways, you can drive to your post box, take a bus to your post box or walk. The same way you can use Outlook to access your mail, your cell, or a browser. They are all different ways of access but the mail is stored at the post box (IMAP mail server) as long as all devices are set to IMAP.
With POP, you are driving to the post box and taking the mail away with you. The next time you go there by foot, the old mail will not be there because you took it with you the last time.

Only solution is to change your laptop settings to IMAP as well and then upload your old email into your IMAP folders on the server.

Not strictly true, has nothing to do with POP; the commands sent to the POP server by your mail application determines whether to keep a copy or not on the server.

Merely change the settings in your mail application to leave a copy on the server. So then when you download your messages on your computer, a copy will remain on the server for you to view via IMAP on your mobile.

Obviously you need to regularly prune your mail through IMAP or your mailbox will get full.

Think of it as going to the post box and reading your (snail) mail and leaving it there for you till you decide to junk it.

Unfortunately that is not possible because they have already been retreived and deleted.

What you can try, if you are computer savy, is temporarily disable the POP (receiving) on your mail application and resend the mail to yourself. Disabling the POP stops you receiving it when you do the [Send/Receive] thing.

With your setting changed to keeping a copy on the server, and your POP re-enabled you should be able to receive it on your desktop, and leave a copy on the server for IMAP to display as well.

So how do I do these Settings?
