I am a newbie, so be gentle!
RPM told me a while ago about edge and I managed to get myself an imate kjam. Now don't get me wrong! it's a marvellous toy. However, all is not well...
For a start, various people told me about the icon changing whenever you have edge coverage. At the moment mine displays a G and when I surf, it still shows a G with arrows (indicating connection). Now... ummm..
HOW do I know when I have edge coverage? Cause that icon's never changed to an E yet, and trust me, I surf EVERYWHERE. Sandton to Auckland Park to Horizon, and everywhere inbetween!
Secondly... I am currently running the base 64Mb RAM it comes with and an MTN 3G sim. Would this affect the connection/connection speed?
Last question, and this is a tricky one for a complete communications idiot like me: I actually use it to chat with friends on MSN mostly. Now, I've tried the LAN at work, which i think is a 512 mbps line (hey be gentle!), I've tried Sentech, Iburst, and now this Imate, which, SUPPOSEDLY is running edge.
Fastest, most reliable connection so far? Ye olde MotoV3 running gprs VIA BLUETOOTH. The connections are all fast, but they all run for 2 minutes and just DIE, and then I start getting CLUMPS of messages coming through (supposedly bandwith shaping or something). Is it possible that I can sort out my "Edge" connection on the Imate NOT to do that?
Thanks Guys!
