just need some advise..

Luxury of cinema prestige or imax experience sound and quality

Imax of today isn't how is used to be, its more like a big cinema with a slighlty bigger screen. You need to sit at least middle of the cinema to get more of the imax feel.(not even sure if they use the original imax cameras for recording, as they used to)

The prestige cinema, really nice experience, but really expensive. Nice place to take a female friend on a date, but i wouldn't be a regular there, over R100 for a single ticket :wtf:

Prestige is nice. The seats are comfortable & there's ample space between your seat and the next one. My only minor grip is the lights from the little tables beside the seats is enough to slightly light up the cinema screen. There was a brief monent during the trailers when all the table lights went off & the difference to the screen was quite noticeable.

Haven't bothered with the minimaximax at all yet.

Try Imax.

Prestige is ****! Most of the time they are dirty. They often have food and drink supply shortages. You hardly get any service at all for the price you are paying.

The best, IMO is to rather download movies from the Internet and watch it at home. That is what I am doing now. Just spent R120k on a decent TV. Also setup 4 seats similar to that of Prestige in my living (now my own cine).

Prestige, but just don't look at the prices ;)

Everything on the menu is actually really good, but so it should be considering the prices. R45 for a small tart or slice of cake, for example, but man ... it's not half bad, and it adds to the start of the movie experience. I can even recommend the platter options, that African platter at R150 is amaze-balls, and is good to share. It's a great balance of flavours and temperatures.

I must agree, Prestige is the better option. As I don't go to the Cinemas that often, it makes it a rather special. It is more expensive, but for me it's worth it.

Exactly. And my setup can play super quality music, is open 24/7, is conveniently situated, people don't play with their phones and yak, and the snacks are reasonably priced.

Best option.

Prestige!

I go to the one in Cavendish Square regularly and love it!

Also helps that myself and partner are on the Liberty Own Your Life rewards program.
Their free movie ticket each week works with IMAX and Prestige. The only problem being that you can't book using the mobiticket vouchers.

We enjoy both. IMAX provides slightly better audio and visuals than Prestige (nothing like the original IMAX), but seeing a big-screen movie from a comfy recliner, with no-one around kicking your seat or squeezing in front of you is brilliant.

If you in CT - go to Scene at the V&A. Beats prestige any day! The tickets are pretty much the same price but the food is so much better! Try the Buglets (3 burger sliders) and Lamb Wrap - only about R40 each and it definitely fills you up.

Prestige. I've been there with my SO and its an amazing experience, I walked out of Prestige thinking ' Its worth it'

Imax has never been that great for me- even the original imax sound was average at best. I've been to the Grove imax the other day to for F&F7, sitting almost at the back- it equated to the same experience as any other cinema, screen seemed small from back there. Can't comment on prestige, but I'd like to see what it's all about.

My favourite cinema is still the 'normal' Sterkinekor at Brooklyn Mall. Consistently have better visual and audio quality comapred to other cinemas like Kolonnade and Wonderpark, and the chairs are really, really comfy- in fact, I refuse to go anywhere else now.

That was my view of Irene Mall's main cinema - excellent audio and decent seats. Then The Grove caught up :)

Are they the seats with the wide armrests and the cupholders that are recessed into the armrest? SK Cavendish has one normal cinema like that with really comfortable seats. The others all have the regular old seats.

The downside being that last year Imax 3d cost you R80...and now it's up to R110 :/

Those are the ones, yes.

Reclining and with cup cooler etc too?
