Immigrating to the UK

By the way, @marco if you ever actually make it to the UK and fancy a beer I noticed when I was in Lidl today you can get a 4x440ml pack of beers for £2.79. 4.8% strength as well, should lubricate your late night browsing quite well ;).
Thanks I'll bear that in mind when I get there. That's rather cheap.

@Dave, I’m impressed, not many people would admit in public to shopping at Lidl for cheap booze :)

Aldi Highland Black 8 year old whisky at £12.99 is bargain of the century. I’d pay twice as much for it, lovely stuff ;)

I actually prefer the German Pilsner from Aldi if I have a beer, though it might be considered expensive by some at 99p for a 500ml bottle :p

Lidl have a nice Tequila through.

No Scot would willingly pay extra for anything, definitely your English side showing there.

;)

Update

My wife has a job offer in London with an annual package of £56k starting in mid April.
Nice, that's a decent annual salary. Fish and chips on you when my wife and I get there later this year

We have just started the process to get my wife's spousal visa. Hopefully won't be too much pain.

Why......., England is supposed to be such a shite place, mud island, bunch of colonizers, Stuart broad, boer war concentration camps, the list is endless.

Compared to SA which is 5 times bigger with 56 million people...
Or Australia which is 32 times bigger with less than half the population...
That's a real downer for me... actually no, the real downer is that I can't just go out and catch snakes lol.

There’s plenty of space if you exclude the south east, and the lack of snakes (and other critters that just want to kill you) is a plus.

We off in 2 weeks and sitting at home with no appliances and TV as we sold the lot. This is our second move between countries within 5 years and it is stressful. Sold all in SA to relocate to Portugal and furnished our home here only to sell all again to relocate to the UK.
Our last move and into the Garden of England called the Cotswold with quaint Hobbit homes. Cannot wait to get there.

Good luck with your move.

Yeah, surprisingly, there's a ridiculous amount of green space in the UK. And the best part, because of conservation laws, is that cities can't get any bigger if there are green belts around them! Makes for cramped living if you're in the city, though.

Amazing huh, with all the doom and gloom of Brexit, the Sterling Pound is still so strong.

It's lost 20% of its value from just before the referendum to now. "Deal" Brexit or a delay is currently priced in as well - if they leave with no deal on 28 March, it'll probably drop another 20%.

Booked my wife's accommodation. Managed to find a flat share less than 1km from where she'll be working for £520 per month including utilities. She'll be flying out on the 16th.
Good news.

Wife and I are seeing consultant tomorrow to ask a whole bunch of questions. Looking to be gone end of September.
