At least the place will be easier to clean with no furniture![]()
That’s very true.
There are 5 rooms, two bathrooms and a WC upstairs.
Then three rooms downstairs (lounge, and two other rooms) and then utilities room and kitchen.
Lots.. of.. cleaning.

Sounds good. I dont even want to ask what the rent is. But enjoy, sounds like a great placeIt’s a massive property. Bigger than our current house (except the yard) - but as mentioned earlier it’s more of a case that beggers can’t be choosers. No one would give us the time of day when doing inquiries and wanted us to be in the country.
So when the agents and the landlord of this place agreed to all our terms and gave us 50% discount on first months rent; figured we would go for it. Means family has a place to go and we have one less thing to worry about.
We are not sure we will stay there past the tenancy agreement of 6 months. But we might.
With a prepaid meter.
@Priapus: was it a council house previously? Also, once settled, you may want to think about switching providers. It’s super easy to do. e-On are ****.
Octopus without a doubt.I’m unsure. But older google map street view photos shows it might have been a business or something of sorts before. Why you ask?
Who are the recommended energy providers and can tenants just switch or do we need landlord permission?
Octopus without a doubt.
Tenants can choose. However if they want to install a smart meter you may need landlords permission.
It's not something you'd be expected to pay for afaik.I’ll take a look at them, thanks.
Looked at smart meters; don’t think I’d invest in that with a property I’m renting. Unless there are benefits other than just having a closer eye on consumption?

It's definitely required for the smart tariffs - such as time of use / tracker / agile / EV type tariffs.

hahah charging your EV at 7.5p per kwh is better than chocolate cakeI forget that's a thing in the UK.
Having our smart meters installed later in the week. Haven’t been able to take advantage of them fully just yet but Octopus are a pleasure to deal with.Octopus without a doubt.

Energy switches take a week or two at most, so I would leave it for when you get here.

Remember to get a referral code for Octopus from someone (like meCool cool I’ll go with Octopus and do it once I’m there. I’ll ask the agent to ask landlord if we can get a smart meter installed if there isn’t a lot of cost to it.
Remember to get a referral code for Octopus from someone (like me) or whoever else wants to offer you one. We split £100 when you use it.
