Immigrating to the UK

In other news; I applied for a visitor visa for July visit to UK on 8th of may. Still waiting - which is unusual. Anyone else applied recently and having delays?
Ours came though right on schedule

Just noticed I cocked up on my dates of travel. I told them I am going from 8th July to 27th August 2023 - instead of 27th July 2023.

And since wife and son are British - maybe they think it's a risky application.

Oh well, will have to wait it out and reapply if they refused to fix the mistakes. No point stressing about it as that won't change anything.

Even so that well within the six months a visitor visa gives you. Plus it's "summer" there, lots of holiday makers.

True, it is - but they'll have two questions (One I did not provide an answer for)

1. How is it that your employer is okay with the extended leave ( 2 months)
2. Is the money you said you had enough to fund 2 months?

Never supplied a leave request / approval for 2 months of course.

I have emailed them (Paid service) for an update of why it's taking long to make a decision.

Net immigration is over 600k. Find it a bit extra that they’re asking you that when they’re just letting everyone and their dog in.

The last time I was refused was due to applying to stay 6 months there. But they wanted to know how I can support myself for so long. Had to get my company to write a whole thing to say I was working remotely. This was in 2015.

So they do refuse people a fair amount I think. I have had 4 visitor visas since then. So maybe I get a break this time and don’t need to submit another application.

Hmmm, may be flagged because of the frequency of your visits?

I got mine back in 12 working days. Applied mid April.

It's valid for 6 months so they don't look at what your travel plans are. Those can easily be changed. They're worried about people who never leave. It appears you have a track record of not overstaying your welcome, so you should be good. BUT, they're also not idiots and understand what's happening in SA currently so they're most likely being extra vigilant with Saffers.

That’s a fair point. I emailed them using the paid enquirers service to ask for a status update on the application. They’ve already responded to say a decision has been made and that if I am granted it it will be in the passport and that they can’t discuss it more and that I need to wait for TLS to return my documents and usual blurb about not making travel plans etc.

I believe if it was refused you get an email these days about it from UKVI. Back in 2015 it was a letter sent with your passport.

But I don’t know if that’s the case. Haven’t been refused since 2015.

So yeah maybe all is good. Hopefully TLS gets my stuff back this week.

Turns out I had no reason to worry. Received my visa today, thankfully. July trip in full swing now!

And so the great British Summer begins.
