iMouse or not iMouse

Thought you bought a MacBook?

Is it the same as magicmouse?

As much as I love working with the built in keyboard, I don't want to have to replace it in 3-5 years time.
Why would you have to replace it in 3-5 years? Do you type like a tap dancing elephant?

I think I've made my mind up that R2k for a magic mouse is a total waste of money. I'll probably stick with my bluetooth mouse. So what about keyboard? Magic KB or something else with mechanical keys? It has to be for Mac though... As much as I love working with the built in keyboard, I don't want to have to replace it in 3-5 years time.

Magic Keyboard with Touch ID. You could get the version without Touch ID and use your MacBook’s Touch ID, but won’t work if you use your MacBook in clamshell mode.

So I'm currently using a regular MS bluetooth mouse which is getting the job done. Do I get a magic mouse? If so, why? And then gesture support version for R2k or regular?

I will eventually get a keyboard as well so magic kb, or are they overrated?
Ta!
What do you mean with “gesture support version or regular”?

As others have mentioned, some like it and some don’t. I wanted one for the horizontal scrolling and rechargeable built in battery, which not many other mice out there offers, and secondly I liked the clean “buttonless look”.

I also did not want to spend R2000 on a mouse so I just got one secondhand, plenty of them on Marketplace, etc. It is still going strong and I get almost 40 days on a full charge, and that is with daily use.

I currently use a Logitech MX Anywhere 3 with a Macbook (and a Dell). Works well, no complaints.

I use the Logi Options software to
a) control the scrolling direction (I'm used to "natural scrolling" in MacOS, so I do the same in Windows now too)
b) set the buttons to do things like show mission control

My wife prefers the touchpad, so we got her the magic trackpad without the touchID support.

I've previously used the Magic Mouse (v1, not with the weird charging) and it worked well, but I wouldn't say better than the Logitech mouse. Eventually broke, that's why I switched.

Keyboard: I don't believe there's any benefit in getting an Apple Keyboard. For the price, find yourself a good Logitech or other brand.

I use a K780 (I love the 100 key layout with the numpad and the scissor switches.
I also use a cheap blue-switch mechanical keyboard in the Mac, plugged in via a thunderbolt dock and it works great. No complaints whatsoever.

You get used to the fact that the Windows key now becomes the Command key very quickly (especially if you don't switch between a Windows machine and a Mac often - which I do and I'm still used to it).

I meant multi-touch

vs

They’re both the same. Just the black version is more expensive.

TouchID. Not having to input my password every time is a no brainer.

As mentioned above already, they are exactly the same except for colour. Still doesn’t make sense why Apple charges more for the black colour though.

I have a Magic Mouse and I refuse to use anything else.
