Hi guys

I just received feedback from Hans regarding the investigation about bandwidth usage measuring. He was very helpful and promised a thorough investigation on the issue. For this investigation he needs a full explanation of each individual problem with a user name (NO password!!). Please do not publish anything here… mail it to me at [email protected] If you had a problem with your usage measuring, please send me the details asap. Can you also please refrain from sending any emails to Hans directly. These individual emails will be ignored anyway. I have an agreement with him that MyADSL will group all complaints to be investigated. This makes it easier for everybody.

Hi,

without killing the messenger:

How many days for Hans to get back to you?

If I remember correctly, the bandwidth measurement issue was already raised many months ago on this forum and was also raised in the letter send several weeks ago to Telkom.

I doubt if the request will yield anything. I can't see it being anything else but a smokescreen to buy Telkom breathing space.

In the mean time people were capped due to Telkom's apparently incompotent if not fraudulent byte accounting.

Having said this: I guess you might get more reaction from Telkom supporting RPM's call than in any other way.

Fortunately there does not seem to be anything wrong with my reports :-)

But I did switch off my modem on October31 from 20:00 just to be sure they don't bill me with their corrupt systems for Octobers usage in November.

I'm pleased to hear he got back to you. This is indeed a very serious problem and from what I've read on myadsl this month has been the worst as far as incorrect stats go. So far my stats have been close enough for me not to complain (although yesterday I apparently did no data transfer whatsoever), but I am keeping a very close eye on things. Last month I mysteriously lost well over 1GB so I'm expecting the same thing to happen again this month...but we'll see.

Until they come up with a more accurate system, I believe we will keep on having this problem, so RPM, be prepared :)

Hans: "I have been out of the office and saw your mail this morning. I have sent the info to our engineers and expect to be able to answer you by latest Friday. Sorry for the delay."

I will let you guys know as soon as I get an answer.

RPM,

Tell me sumptin', when us poor folks do a download
and lets say the item is 100MB in size, the download will always
mesure out in Telkom Tracker at 130 - 140mb. Is this due to "Promts"
to the server?
In OSX "Internet connect" one will see a bar showing receive amounts
and ALSO a sending bar showing amounts - packets being sent.
S
If this is so.... then the "REAL" cap is only 2-2.25GB.
Ain't this a bad situation even getting worse!

Where is the continuation of this thread? Anything get done / corrected in this extremely important issue of bandwidth monitoring and possible overclocking of measurement.
