Importing with TNT Express - Avoid at all cost

Ok so you say its fine thay they charge me 1500 penalty for this code being used wrongly by seller ?
You are legally responsible for what is on the commercial invoice, not the seller. The R1500 fine is for fraudulently declaring a low value on the invoice to avoid taxes . This is how SARS sees it... R500 is for using the incorrect HS code.

SARS is cracking down on the incorrect use of Tarrif codes right now.
They have to generate more money, so this is one of their methods.

Dear Friends,

Some of you will have experienced Customs stops recently. The below communication and link shed some further light on the reasons.

According to Shepstone & Wylie Attorneys (http://www.wylie.co.za/articles/sars-annual-performance-plan-20172018/), the increase in Customs Stops being experienced relates directly to the SARS 2017/2018 Annual Performance Plan. Contained within the plan is SARS intention to increase both customs and excise compliance and revenue.

"There are various plans in place to assist SARS in achieving its goal of increased revenue and compliance. The Plan states that SARS will "deliver additional Customs and Excise revenue through targeted compliance and enforcement activities in high risk areas of non-compliance". Essentially SARS plans to improve revenue inflow through an increased number of customs stops and post clearance audits.

SARS cites undervaluation as a main reason for the ‘leakage in potential customs duties and VAT’ as well as increased abuse of rules of origin, valuation and tariff classification. According to the Plan, SARS plans to address these issues by building a stronger transfer pricing, valuation and rules of origin system."

We will continue to do everything possible to ensure that your shipments are processed through Customs as quickly and as smoothly as possible.

Prehaps TNT should contact reciever for documents before parcel arrives. This way the buyer will have an opertunity to submit correct documents for customs.
Othwr wise it is outside of our control.

Every item I buy I state that the seller must declare it properly, not as gift, or some other BS - if they don't, and this happens to me - I'll refuse the item and lodge a claim with paypal.

One of my international suppliers wanted to change to send me goods with TNT as they are cheaper - because of this thread I was hell no thank you, I will stick with DHL thank you.

Hi guys, I just wanted to add my experience, I ordered from Banggood and they sent it via TNT, I ordered on the 15th, it shipped out the 19th, it arrived today, no handling fees or duty charges, so I am happy with them, I was stressing a lot when I was reading these posts so I do think that some people have problems, but I haven't had any, I attached an image of the tracking for anyone who is interested

Suspicious of this first post.

Sorry to disappoint, but I am a software engineer and ordered parts for my quadcopter, I just thought the point of this is to help people as I stated, this discussion made me stress when I read it and so I thought I would create a profile so that I can put down my experience and help others, if you care to look at the tabs in the link you will see a lot of programming related tabs and links, so I am not associated with TNT at all, I just wanted others to know that not all experiences are bad experiences

Banggood does not let you choose your courier anymore, or at least for me it didn't, I was hoping it was going to be DHL but when I found out it was TNT I googled peoples experiences and came across this discussion and started to worry, when I received my parcel I thought that I would share my experience, I could only choose "Expedited Shipping" at $29

What was your total order value? Did you ship batteries?

No, apparently you cannot ship batteries to SA anymore, wish I knew how to bring them in via sea or something, the order cost $114.48 including shipping, thats why I was also stressing when I read that people were paying so much on handling fees as it would've made it cost almost the same as buying local, granted that they do not stock the flight controller I wanted anywhere locally.

Not suspect at all

I reported you for questioning my credibility and insulting me, just because you have had bad experiences and my experience does not align with yours does not mean that I questioned your experience, I even said in my post that I believe that some people do have issues with them, why just because it is my first post on a topic that I felt I was in a position to give my point of view do you have to resort to belittling my input? It is because of people like you that so many South Africans are afraid to air their views and help others when they are in a position to do so.

And what do you think will happen to your report?

The fact that you cannot see that a person joining up just to post a "positive" review in a response to a thread of negative reviews says it all - for a software engineer I'd expect more - then again, these days - the industry isn't what it used to be.

With a little bit of practice, you'll also pick up I didn't have a problem with TNT.

:crylaugh: You were bullied in school, right? :crylaugh:

No actually I wasn't, but it is ok, I bet you used to bully people just because you could not accept that they were different to you, anyway, I will remove my posts above if it makes you happy?
