I am wondering if ANYBODY in South Africa can get a constant 300Kbits stream, fed from:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nflgamepass

(The site has a test button and test feeds)

I have, at 6am, tried from Cape Town, but only get 300kbits in bursts, averaging at about 180kbits. I mean, come on, really?!

I have tried with Telkom, Telkom Unshaped, Webafrica, Webafrica Unshaped (same difference), Webafrica Verizon Unshaped (terrible!).

Please, if anybody knows of an ISP that allows reliable 300kbit throughput, PLEASE LET US KNOW!!!

Here are some traceroutes:

Amazing. It really seems to be impossible for a normal ADSL client in South Africa, to get 300kbits from the US. So much for 100GBits of undersea cables.

Don't worry, when that 1.5Tb cable is up and going we should be getting 400Kb speeds. lol

I managed to view the demo video at 100k and 300k without any problems. Speed test told me insufficient bandwidth on every test...

Cool... Well, what time of day and what account and line? I'm guessing 4Mbit ADSL and SAIX-based account... Works sometimes... but that's the catch. Seems you can't guarantee someone that it'll work. :|

Tried it lately? For more than 10 minutes at a time?

Anyone on Diginet? I see the prices have dropped somewhat in recent years...... getting better connectivity than on ADSL? Supposedly guaranteed throughput, right... 1:10, 1:5, 1:2 and 1:1 Contentions available?

just thinking with the drastic reductions in cost expected mebbe instead of reducing people's monthly bills every can now upgrade to leased lines ;)
