I currently have the Vuma CPE plugged into a very old TD-W8970 Tp Link.
The Wifi is rather flakey, so I was wondering if this cost effective action might be a solution:
Switch off the Wifi on the W8970 and plug in a dedicated access point like a WA901N.
Will the access point contain better radios than what comes built into an all in one router ?

I would try and find a 2nd hand unifi AP Lr. Will only be 2.4ghz but effective.

@Smokey mcpot should be able to help you out with something from the UniFi range at a decent price.

Best to let us know your budget and more about the area you're tryna cover. Then we can advise better.
Haha... next thing you know then my name would be changed to Smokey Unifi .

At the moment no more used AC units but could possibly get some UaP Lr green rings with only 2.4ghz. For new stuff feel free to pop me a Pm.

Fantastic - I am getting some good responses.
I found the AP at a place close to me, so sourcing it should be no issue:

@Shalin_ZN, the budget will cover it. The house is rather stretched out, like a capital H shape and about 400 square meters. The Router is in the study rather central to the house (in the minus of the H). I have a cheap access point in one of the bedrooms ( one of the legs of the H).

The devices that connects to the router are the problem. They occasionally report "no internet access". Wifi Analyzer shows the signal strength to be bouncing up and down. The other access point does not do that.

Will the AP interfere with the router wifi if they are adjacent to each other or would it be best to switch off the router wifi.

Make sure it comes with a PoE injector.

With regards to interference use only channels 1, 6 or 11.

Use your analyser app and see which is best. In my case i made my router use Ch1 and the AP 11 and I also made all the SSID's the same name and password for seamless handover roaming.

TP-Link Deco Wifi Mesh is pretty good with coverage and speed.
Look at the Deco E4/M3
