pardon my ignorance but what exactly is line bonding..?
been seeing fishline bonding or something advertised..
is that when you buy multiple adsl lines and they combine them to make 1 "super adsl line''?

can you do 2 lines or does it have to be more..?
i'm thinking residential.
 
Hi Willaim,

The Fishbone is a device that bonds an amount of ADSL lines into a single, high-speed connection.

So for example, if you take two 4mb lines (the true speed of a 4mb line is actually roughly 3mb) then that would give you a connection of about roughly 6mb.
It's true bonding. Not load sharing or anything of that kind.

And If you're considering it for home use, sure. You can bond anything from 2 and up.

Just be aware that you will be chowing through your bandwidth quite quickly with those speeds and the 1:1 uncontended unshaped bandwidth doesn't come cheap.

lets say i want to combine 2 4mb lines for my residence, how much would that be,

I'm only an engineer unfortunately so I don't really know the pricing.

I know it's about roughly R 147 a gig. The device rental I'm not so sure about, but setup and installation charges are about R 2500.

The lease would be about R 2000 + line rental.

Why don't you phone our office and ask to speak to a sales representative, they'd be better suited to help you out with a quote, I might be wrong about the pricing.

does this mean you cant use the normal bandwidth you would buy from Afrihost ?

Yes that is correct. We create special fishbone user accounts that are pre-configured on the device.
