just a small little side note.
defensive driving in a traffic jam becomes really strange.
I ride on allendale every day. there is a jam every day.
on one part in chloorkop, I can do 60 to 80 while splitting there if the traffic is doing 40. if the traffic is doing 60, I CAN do 100, but I dont need to. I pass through the traffic with ease, at 80, get ahead of it, and I can cary on at 80 ahead of traffic.
further down, by the gautrain bridge, if traffic is doing 40, I am doing 60.
traffic is doing 20, I am doing 40
traffic is standing still, I am doing 20, in first all the way.
but this is based on that section of road.
now lets take the N1 N in the afternoon, coming from Rivonia towards Allendale.
I take that area the same as the second section of Allendale, because people change lanes without warning all the time.
from time to time there is a guy creaming past me in the emergency lane (cars and bikes do this) or there is a bike going faster than me, so I give him space.
99% of the bikes though keep to very similar speeds to what I do. normally I am not the bike in front, or the bike at the back, but there is about a car length between all of us, we all pay attention to the traffic and I have never seen a biker show a hand signal on that route to a car, or take off a mirror.
but hey, all bikers drive like maniacs and want to be treated like princesses, and all car drivers drive like a-holes but no one bats an eye. and no taxi ever make everything worse for everyone....
