I can't figure out if this only applies to me, or others have seen the same trend.
I am still using Webafrica unshaped, 4mb, registry hack etc. In recent weeks my latency have been going up steadily though, it used to be below 300ms then went up to 450ms for a few weeks and now it is over 550ms.
Switching between Saix and Verizon gives different latency with Verizon now giving better results at 500ms while Saix gives aroun 600ms.

Maybe this is server related, Pornolio are you getting similar results?
Or this may just be telkom messing about again? Or even webafrica?

I don't play WoW but I have noticed quite bad latency while gaming recently too. On ADSL 512k (Saix).

having similar latency issues werries on 3 different isp accounts using saix shaped, my unshaped has climbed quite impressivley too :/

Pretty much sitting on 580 if I am lucky to 650 on unshaped and 800 - 900 on shaped, this is without the reg hack mind you

I wonder if the soccer doesn't have anything to do with it? Surely part of our network is being used to broadcast all those games?

My latency went up a **bit** not much... mainly hanging around 370 / 390 ms most of the time, it use to be 350 ms and even sometimes 320 ms. The instances are a bit laggy from time to time, but I suspect its a population issue, since shadowsong is pretty much the second highest populated english realm. What I did notice was add-ons messing around. Running recount pushed my system to almost being unplayable. Disabling most of the addons solved it for me.

A month ago my latency was permanently around the 500 MS range, but after complaining to telkom, they reset my ADSL line port at the exchange and that solved it. Not sure how or why... but it sorted it out.

As for Webafrica, yes you have to check every night which network performs best. Some nights Saix is actually better but most of the time I rely on Verizon... even though the latency looks the same, the smoothness and playability is better on Verizon.

soccer sure but what he is talking about started a couple of months ago come to think of that didnt the kek start just after they said we "upgradein" the interwebs for 2010?

Think I will play around a bit with the addons. I did notice on Wednesday night that (while shadowsong crashed) I switched to another server and got 285ms ping. My chars on this server have almost no addons active, but the server is also much less populated. I have not been playing long on the server though so cannot say that the 285ms ping is sustainable over long periods.

Maybe it is just addons and I am blaming telkom wrongly. But an adsl reset may be a good idea as well ;) I am the only one on my switchboard though, they expected more people to connect in my area but no one did :O

Seems there has been an overall trend in latency going skywards. The last month's topics on this forum at least has been all about latency and poor performance :(

the reg hack actaully helped me the other night, was raiding at about 400-500ms mwith crappy hspda, was pretty nice :)

My latency is normally around 250-350 but the last 2 months its gone up to 400-500 very strange have a 4mbps line with Imaginet unshaped account

Yes I have seen a noticable deterioration in latency the last month or so, for quite a while (at least 6 months) I had 300 - 400 range and am now seeing regular 500 to 600. The dailies in the Argent Toury are becoming very frustrating!

I spoke to my service provider and sent them all my pings and tracert etc. Which they sent to Saix and came back to me saying with a 4mbps line unshaped having 450-550ms latencty is the norm and there is nothing they can do for me so I will have to live with it coming from 250-350ms latencty 3 months ago to now having that I dont know if it is worth paying so much and for what?

I recently moved to Imaginet. Getting <400ms latency, running Ventrilo, 25man hardmode wipefests on a 384k line. You might wanna check out their unshaped options. No prepaid though, but its every cent worth it so far.

I applied the latency fix again. I have a std Cybersmart account setup on my router. And when I WoW I bridge a new connection from my pc. So what I did was connect the Imaginet connection. Followed the latency fix settings and made sure that I had the Imaginet dialup connection info in the step where you apply TcpAckFrequency. Made the changes (rest of the fix also). Rebooted. Connected. And enjoyed awesome WoWage again.

since about 5 weeks ago my saix unshaped also gives me around 600-700, if I use the verizon unshaped I get 450-500, it used to be the same 400-450 with both the saix and the verizon accounts

yesterday i had latencies of 12k! with a minimum of 3k. i couldnt even browse on the internet, when i play wow the game just froze after 10secs. after a while it improved a bit but still anything between 2k and 6k.

Whats going on with the IS and SAIX these last few months? They say its overload of the cables but who knows
