My GF recently increased her cap, initially to 1GB, then 2GB on a vodacom 3G bundle. I wrongly assumed they just change your cap, as they don't do additional credit vetting, etc and you don't get another free device, so I also wrongly assumed the contract does not get extended. I've just looked over the documentation - Without any additional devices, etc, they increased the contract to a 36 Month contract when she asked for an increase in Cap to 2GB (from the day of the increase), and she's paying the normal rate of R449 so it wasn't to reduce monthly cost - Surely this isn't ethical/legal???

Any advice as to what can be done to change this would be appreciated

Hi

Send me your number lets see.
When move to a higher package its a migration and the contract does not get extended , obviously only the Subs.

Interesting as I might do the same (my 3G contract is still 19mths). Perhaps the SP had "upgraded" instead of "migrated". Would like to see what VD says about it.

It might be that they migrated the line from the standard 1gig 24 month tarrif code to the 36 month tarrif code. On the paperwork, did it say upgrade quote or migration quote? Even if you migrate the line to the 36 month tarrif code, it will not change the ugprade date as far as I know.

Is there a bigger kickback for the shop on the 36month contract?

Not really. Besides, if the contract was not taken out with the store where the migration was done, then the store that does the migration gets nothing out of it. Therefore it was most likely just a admin error. Craig, if you would like then PM me your number and ill check what happened also.

Thanks ocleroux and VodacomData - Have PM'd both of you.....hopefully it was an error as it doesn't seem right at all.

I have replied. It was just a migration that was done and not a upgrade. The upgrade date and contract term date is not affected by this...but should you do a upgrade to get a newe modem for example, you need to make sure that the store selects the 24 month tarrif code again on the system otherwise you going to be locked into a 36 month contract term. If you want, you can PM me with your email adress and I can send you the migration quote to have the tarrif code changed back to 24 months.

I am considering this one resolved and closed. Emailed craig migration quote to be signed and faxed back to me to be processed.
