I want to buy a new PC box soon, and checking at a few deals. Unless I'm missing something, Incredible Connection don't seen nearly as bad as they used to.

Incredible Connection have the following Packard Bell for R7999.99 (just the box) :

Intel® Core 2 Duo E4700 processor 2.6 GHz
2048MB RAM
320GB HDD
DVDRW Dual layer drive
Integrated 10/100 LAN
8-in-1 memory card reader
nVidia GeForce 8600GS graphics with 512MB dedicated video RAM
6 USB 2.0 ports
2 Firewire ports
1 Year collect, repair and return warranty

And PC International have the following built up at R5000.00 (just the box) :

Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0Ghz E8400 CPU
2GB DDR2 RAM
500GB SATA II-7200RPM HDD (32MB Cache)
Foxconn 1333FSB MB
Coolermaster Elite Case + 350w PSU
DVD Writer +_ ( 22x) Dual Layer (8.5GB)
Onboard sound with speakers
256MB Geforce 8400GS w/ DVI + TV
10/100 Lan
Keyboard & Optical Mouse

This PC has no software, so I'd need to add R1800.00 for Vista Home Premium. It does have a slightly faster processor, but lacks on the graphics card.

IC not too bad ?

Im pretty sure the quality of components from pc int are far beta. You can do an upgrade where you pay a little more and get a beta card and Pc int are very good with their warranties. I've neva used IC and the only prob I've ever had with PC int is service, but they are a very good store, cant complain about anything other than servive.

IC's prices are still way over-inflated ..... better can be bought elsewhere for less.

PcInt always used to throw in a 'free' copy of Windows if you bought a PC. (This was before Windows Activation ;))

Not denying - but they're surely alot better than a few years ago?

These PC's are roughly R1200.00 apart then (once the Vista is added). That's from one of the cheapest places too ...

I would rather chew my leg off than deal with IC.
PC Int know what they are doing.

yeah, it's better than it was but I still think that 8k for that system is a rip .....

Bought a game at IC (first mistake), activation code didn't work, so I went back to them (second mistake). After confirming that it didn't work, they offered to crack it for me. So I did get service from them, but not what I expected.

Read up on their service on hello peter. I'm sure there will be both negative and positive stories, so that you can form some kind of opinion.

Saw Vista ultimate for 6 grand at the IC in Fourways, not sure wat it costs now, but its +-R2000 from Pc int

Doesn't say that in your post, unless I'm 100% blind.

Possibly ;)

Was corrected a little on though to R1200.00

Actually, I must say that I went into IC for the first time in ages to price their laptops and I was blown away at their laptop prices... they really looked pretty decent for a change. So maybe give it a squiz... you might be surprised.

Hopefully they are coming around to some more sane pricing levels... or maybe the chain is in serious trouble?

Careful, those are DSP prices.

DSP means you can only activate it on one PC within limits (Changing Videocard, Motherboard, HDD could cause a reactivation which are limited).

Retail means you can activate it on any PC with any components with unlimited reactivations. Those are the more expensive retail packages on the shelves.
