Yes it is.

It's a hybrid drive, so should have a platter. Hence the "H" in SSHD.

Curious as to how this works. Ad says solid state drive capacity 2TB which implies 2TB SSD.

Hybrids are typically HDD/SSD combos with the HDD being a lot bigger. Ad does not mention capacity for HDD and SSD.

Advert is a bit misleading me thinks.

Yep, it does have a cache, but it's ridiculously tiny for the size of the drive. You'd be basically flushing the cache almost every day when using it as your boot drive and it won't help a lot for media storage either.

Most people, if they have a platform that supports Intel RST, would be better off getting a 32GB or 64GB SSD and using that as a cache.

You can't install anything to the cache, it's inaccessible.

You will never see the 8GB. It's a cache, which stores the most frequently used data so that it can be served faster when needed. Some OS components will definitely be stored there, boot up and shutdown is significantly faster with SSHDs versus HDDs (besides the launching of apps, games, data, etc. which is also faster).

You should try my old blade server then... 9 NICs, each trying to boot with PXE.
