Then you have telkom issues.

I've never ever had slow speed on IS (except OW gold :sick:) after 5pm since 2009.
 
May I enquire what your experiences are like today, assuming a lot of peeps are at home today because of the public holiday?

I'm seeing a lot of complaints on the OW thread and would like to compare the two :)

I don't use Openweb or Connection now since my vox is way better but Openweb accounts from "Titan" to "Gold" is simply IS accounts resold...... Openweb obviouslly denies this but the performance people are getting on public holidays are SO like star rating account cause they are shaped Monday to Friday during the day if the stars are low. Unshaped afterhours regardless of stars.

So I guess connection will be the same. Just saying it here cause I will get flamed in the openweb topic. People people have come to this conclusion too.
 
Should my R99 2Mbps uncapped account still be shaped to death at this time of night?

It must be your star rating thats gone down thats affecting your line speed during peak times. Speeds normally return to full from 5pm onwards.

I'm on a two star rating; below is part of a reply I received from support this morning, I was also under the impression that my account would be unshaped after 5pm, apparently only at 11pm...

"Please note that due to the fact that your account is on two star rating, you will experience much slower speeds during peak hours.

We monitor our overall network usage on an hour to hour basis and if our capacity is stretched we dynamically shape and throttle top users uncapped accounts based on bandwidth usage history for the past 10 days to relieve congestion and we do not have a set usage threshold to throttle accounts

May we suggest that you schedule the majority of your downloads during 23:00 to 6:00 Monday to Sunday to increase the star rating of your account. This will ultimately improve your internet speeds"

That's about right, though even on 2 stars, your streaming should work fine after 5pm.

Downloading between 11pm and 6am doesn't affect your star rating negatively.

Weekend downloading. Their shaping is causing my int TS3 data to have 60% packet loss.

I'm pretty sure weekend is not equal to off-peak. Downloads have to be between 23:00 and 06:00..

R99 is just a special launch price so don't think it's fair to label it a cheapy crappy account. It runs rings around OW Gold.

Just follow the rules of downloading between 23:00-6:00 7 days a week and you won't have any issues.

I speak from personal experience so ja...

I have one of those deals too and the data is unshaped period. If you don't mind juggling two accounts then this is perfect to help your stars recover when you just have to absolutely have to klap it over the unshaped weekend :)
