I was on 4 at 5pm when I started this experiment, then it dropped to 3 around 7:30pm, then back to 4 after midnight after 7 hours of line speed downloading. Yeah, makes sense :wtf:

Anyway, still downloading, still on 3 stars.

Who would it not make sense? Midnight counts as a new day for the 10 day rolling threshold. And since you don't have usage for the 10th day it brings your average down.

Usage is calculated hourly, not daily, IMO.

On Friday, my stars changed 5 times, 5, then 4, then 3, then 4, then 3.

In the same day yes. Doesn't change the fact the rolling window is 10days. Not 240hours.

Yes, it's 10 days calculated hourly. My account is 38 days old. Yesterday was the first time I started downloading at 5pm. I would have expected a negative affect on my stars, but they actually jumped around, as the last day of the 10 (the present) would also have an effect.

Anyway, we're going around in circles, I know what you mean and you know what I mean.

its not just about usage but also network capacity, minute to minute.

and then of course, each IS reseller runs with their own set of rules wrt the star ratings depending on which options they buy, to bring to market under their own brand.

Indeed.

Connection and Plugg are very similar, just different thresholds.
Webafrica has "priority" bandwidth :sick:
Openweb, well, who knows what they do, let's not go there ;)

Openweb is extremely strict. You basically might only get full speed at 1am where connection is follows plugg like rules where 5pm Monday to Friday means full speed no matter the star rating. I think the best accounts are accounts that are the closest to IS which is plugg and connection. Back in the day there was only 1 variation of the uncapped account.

Now it seems ISP's have more control over the shaping and that is bad because you never know what you really hoing to get.

Some IS reseller ISPs offer business type accounts with much better thresholds.
