Anyone ever had one?

I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with my face (aside from the obvious, of course).

*ouch*

How do you know it's infected?

For 30 years I refused to believe that sniffing salt water is the best cure for sinus problem. Two years ago I tried it out of desperation. My sinii, blocked for 2 months with many other medicines, opened up two days after I started sniffing salt water into my nose. Gross, but the relief is worth it. Apparently sea water is the best, but failing that, water with salt and baking soda also works a treat. And if you want to fork out some cash and the thought of sniffing water out of a glass freaks you out, you can buy Sterimar from your local chemist. It is a pressurised spray of sea water.

Do not make the same mistake I did for 30 years, it really works

Absolutely, and utterly agree with you, it's like a miracle. Also suffered for years until I discovered this.

What's going on now though, I've never felt before - Feels like someone has punched me in the face from the inside.

I don't, hence the question.

Something awful is going on in that area though, I can assure you.

There must be some reason you that made you suspect the may be a problem..? Are you swollen or congested..? Any pain..?

Oh ya, I've been sick for a couple of weeks now - Cold or flu or something, and yesterday I started getting what I suspected was a toothache, but now this morning the pain is radiating from above my jaw, pounding away - Feels like there's something in there trying to inflate itself. :D

Might be an abscess, either in the root of a tooth or your sinus. Probably best to go to the dr and get some antibiotics. Don't think that will clear on its own.

You're asking for a diagnosis on the MyBB forums where everybody's opinion is fact ? Are you out of your mind ?

Go see a doctor.

Welcome to my everyday(practically) I have never tried saltwater, but you need something to break down all the mucus.
Go to the doctor and they will prescribe you a spray which does this quite well, but it akes about 2 days to get rid of all the gunk.

I recommend grabbing sinutab with codeine for the pain as well. The non-painkilling compounds though cause you to dry up, making drainage take a bit longer.
Though you won't be considering shoving a drillbit in your sinus.

He should see a doctor but interstingly enough one of those sprays is a saline spray with is just salt water.

GO SEE A DOCTOR

If you bend forward and feel pressure build up in your face, most likely infected sinus. Usually one sided.

Warm salt water rinse (aka nasal lavage) works to dislodge blockages. The salt is only meant for osmotic balance thereby making it a less painful experience. This is different from a salt water rinse for a sore throat where the salt should be high concentration to "kill" the infection again by osmotic potential. So don't go crazy on the salt for a nasal rinse. Also be aware that this might lead to a long term worsening of the problem, making it easier for the sinus to become infected.

Something like sinutab is your best bet if it is indeed sinusitis. GO SEE A DOCTOR. It works to dry out the sinuses so as to allow the body to fight off the infection. Eventually when the swelling reduces the sinuses should drain. You might also need antibiotics depending. GO SEE A DOCTOR.

In chronic cases an operation to enlarge the drainage hole for the sinuses is recommended.

GO SEE A DOCTOR.

I can believe that! :D Though the active ingredient in mine is not saline. Though when I was younger I used to "wash" my nasal cavity with the stuff. Hate the feeling soo much.

Yep, elected to not be an idiot, and just went to the doctor. He seemed a bit confused, but gave me a whack of antibiotics to take, as well as some other pills...

I just bent forward, feels like there's a dam trying to get loose when I do so.

I'VE SEEN A DOCTOR, THANKS. :D

The salt water irrigation thing works epically well, but I've never had an issue with my sinus on the side of my face that I am having now, which is why I figure an infection of some sort.

Confused...? Why...? :D Sounds like you have maxillary sinusitis to me, especially with the associated toothache. The antibiotics should sort you out.
