So I was just looking at ISP's and not sure how but stumbled on an old mybb article about InfoGro ISP.

They have very decent pricing. They mainly focus on adsl/vdsl but also do Openserve fibre up to 100Mbps fibre.

Scanning through their prices they offer an Openserve 100Mbps line rental for R450 which is pretty cheap if you ask me. Uncapped 100Mbps combo for R1250 per month.

All their cap bundles gets doubled but the speeds seem to be capped on 40/40 which is still nice for most ADSL/VDSL.

The thing that caught my eye was not the decent prices or the very bad website but the latency. Very respectful latency lower than my Supersonic, Vox and Cybermart. They give 10GB free as a trial which is nice to test.

Past 2 nights been getting disconnected on Infogro.

Anyone else?

Anyone else's Infogro disconnecting regularly within the last 30 minutes?

So what account do you have at Infogro?

BTW switched to my backup Infogro account when I saw your post but it is fine for me no DC

Thanks for checking.

Got the 100gb double up (so 200 gb).
Been on it for the past month.
Been really solid performance.

Just noticed that within the past 2 days or so that now and then my router becomes disconnected from the account and has to authenticate again.

Tonight was pretty bad at once stage with multiple disconnects and authentications.

Seems back to normal now.

EDIT: Nope, just did it again. Switching to Vox to see if it happens there too (to rule out router).

Yeah they use Network platforms which has pretty decent transit hence the low latency to international destinations.

The PPPoE session that drops usually indicate noise on the line. Could be exchange or Openserve transit issues.

Ugh.... so sick of these issues.
I am seriously considering moving to a WISP.
Only other option.

Why not log a fault and ask for your port to be changed at the MSAN?

Fault has been on and off for 2 months.
Finally the current technician is painstakingly going through all connections etc to try find the problem. As far as I know they have already put me on a another port.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

And you called it - seems there is something up. Lots of noise when I left the handset and now the phone is not giving a dial tone anymore - just beep beep beep.

Well at least you know who to blame now. If only you had fibre you would just experience the difference Openserve fibre vs VDSL or ADSL. Fibre installed in January this year. Not down or slow for even for 1 second even during 8hour+ power outages. I think i might actually reach 1 year with zero downtime or slowdowns and the fact that you can still switch account is a big bonus.

Do you think a WISP would be better though?

I live in an area where we only have adsl and vdsl.
No LTE and no fibre.
Nothing planned.
And I love my home too much to move.

So quite literally, a WISP seems to be the only alternative. But I am scared to throw money at it and it doesn't perform well. Don't want to go from the frying pan into the fire.

I just really am getting so gatvol.
