I agree, I have one of those, 2006/7 model I think. I get an average of around 12km/l. but that’s me not always driving economically![]()
Town driving or combined?
It is not impossible so just search until you find one.
Bought the wife a 2006 Polo 1.9TDi with 105'000km on the clock for R79'000 a year and a half ago.
Great fuel efficiency, great aircon and it has the power when you need it. Add to that the bonus of cruise control. I thought it was a bargain.
And we service it ourselves so maintenance is cheap.
That is a tad out of my price range.
I really would not like to spend more than 70k.
Thank you for all the advice guys.
Please offer any other advice as you see fit.
I bought a 2005 Toyota Corolla 140i in December last year and I get on average 7.1L/100KM with about 70% freeway/30% urban driving.
Look around, you will find one for under R70000.
I was just using the price as an example of what you can find. Pretty sure our car will now sell for about your budget.
I am convinced you can find a 2005 or older model that'll easily fall in your budget. Perhaps even the same model if you get a great bargain.
Really a great car. I will keep an eye out for one. Or something similarly priced.
A good options is also to look around for Banks that hold auctions.
They auction repossessed cars that are in good conditions at very good prices, sometimes just the remainder of whatever was outstanding on the Car loan.
Only downside is your average “young” car (polo, city golfs, fiesta etc.) go a bit higher as dealerships usually go for them on auctions.
I bought my Fiesta on a such a auctions for just under the trade value.
Thanks. Do you know where I can get more info on these auctions?
Jeep Grand Cherokee 2.7 Diesel, Mercedes E240, BMW 530d.
For R 65k? Great where do I sign up?
