I wonder if anyone has used both [Mobile Partner/VMC Lite] firmware on their E272 or E270 and with what sort of results? I am considering purchasing one and need to know these results please.

Thanks in advance.

The Mobile Partner and VMC Lite software are not firmware, they do not affect the performance of the cards at all. Firmware updates can, but are completely separate.

It is possible to have them both installed on your computer and switch between them provided you disable autorun in Windows (which everybody should be doing as a security measure anyway).

Thanks "ginggns" but I am more confused now as it was my understanding based on Vodacoms Home Page "Firmware vs Software" instructions. They state that Firmware is flashed on the E272/270 and Software Application the PC. So Mobile Partner/VMC Lite are software applications as I understand you and Firmware has been flashed over by Huawei.

Infact I use Mobile Partner dashboard on my E220 in preference to VMC products (Less demanding on my OS resources). Just setup your Profile/Network settings correctly and all works well.

Thanks and go well.

The E272/270 have firmware which is the program that the devices' own CPU runs. Just to confuse things, they also have an area of flash memory which appears to your PC as a CD-ROM device, which contains the setup files for the program (Mobile Partner/VMC Lite, etc) which runs on your PC.

More detail in this thread.
